I do 110 normally on the incline press at school (im 16 and weak). And I tried doing an incline on free weights. I could only do 44. This made me feel like i got weaker. I know this isnt true, but I'm wondering how much difference is there in the way free weights and machines are used. I did 44 on freeweights and 110 on the machine in my incline.

I think it has to do with balancing mucles and the fact that if it's on 2 arms your body can constantly give the weight to the muscle not taking much work kinda like how a segway works.

Just my guess though, iono.

You don't have to balance the bar on an incline press machine. The friction from all the cables and pulleys affects the work you have to do. The plane of motion is different. Etc, etc.

Use freeweights brother.

yeah free weights are a total nother beats and in the end will make you alot bigger and alot stronger alot faster than machines, drop the machines and grab the free weights youll be better off in the long run
