Being a student, and looking after my body somewhat (less alc. = less cals), what are some ways to get drunk for cheap?

Ive been told to take an asprin thirty minutes or so before drinking. It thins the blood, which increases your blood alcohol level. Is this for real?

um, cheap vodka or whiskey. $8 for a fifth of 5 o'clock should take care of you for a weekend.

sit in a sauna for 20-30 minutes. sweat alot. then drink a few beers and you should feel pretty drunk. then a couple hours later you will be perfectly sober and no hangover the next day.

Beast Ice: 12-pack = $5
40 of OE: = $2

The other suggestions for cheap liquor were also good... of course I'd much rather just buy a couple bottles of tasty high-gravity Belgian ale... that's a good quick tasty drunk.

malt liquor is mega cheap.. OE, Steel Reserve, ICE800.. They all taste like crap, though.

If you're drinking at your place, I'd go for cheap bear, as previously suggested. If you're going to bars, find a bar that deals out a mean Long Island. Earls in the U-district in Seattle gives you pretty much a glass of hard A and about half an ounce of coke at the top. Two of those can take care of me for the night without getting me sloppy drunk. They aren't too expensive either.

okay i've got the end all answer: popov vodka + brita filter. if you're in teh dorms just grab someone's brita water filter (someone you don't care about pissing off) and run the popov through it like 3-5 times. after that point you really don't get any more crap out of it. but it will make a marked difference, so you'll still pay your $9 for the handle, but considerably reduce hangover and that disgusting taste (and yes i have done this personally, and played wtih blind taste testing, this isn't somethign i just made up, it definitely works)

oh, and not only do you get drunk for cheap, and lessen hangover, and enhance taste (well, decrease the gross taste would be more accurate), but vodka straight must be one of the lowest calorie drinks you can have, i mean i think the lighter the drink the less caloric stuff (generally speaking) mixed in with the ethanol, which if my memory serves is around 7 or 8 calories / gram. someone may want to chime in w/ how many grams of ethanol are in a drink/shot, and also elaborate on its digestion, but my understadning is that your body cannot store ethanol, so it preferentially metabolizes the ethanol calories over anyuthing else in your stomach, though i'm speaking from vague recollections in this last fact and could be wrong

i'm sure i've seen thsi thread like 43 times before - try a box of franzia, it's only like $10 for 5 liters of wine. that should be enough to get you, your girlfriend, and her roommate good and tanked.

burnetts vodka.... 7.99 a fifth.... if you have a high tolerance, you might need another one to finish you off, or a couple of beers. But if you can get drunk of 8 shots, then boom, two nights of drinking, 4 bucks & change per night.... cant beat it.

IT will **** you up, back in the states we sued to buy this **** cause it was like 15 bucks, we'd get a big old 5 gallon coller throw a bottle in, and mix it up with some furit punch or somthing. I remember me and my buddies used to be able to get 10 or 12 poeple drunk off one BOTTLE. IDK how heavy of a drinker you are but i'm sure this bottle oculd last you a month by yourself easily. And you'd be drunk a lot off it. Personnalyl I don't touch it anymore. Its too strong

I worked as an EMT, and I got tosee what really desperate people use to get drunk, so if you want really cheap you can get some antiseptic mouthwash, like Listerine, but get the generic stuff as it is cheaper. That or hairspray.

Good luck :hello:

i don't remember teh stolie being cheap, but that's what we used. i took popov or some other equally cheap and disgusting vodka, and filtered like half the handle. then my gf made labelled shots, some were filtered popov, some were regular popov, and some were stolie. they were all readily identifiable. the filtered was somewhere in the middle, can't remember which it was closer to, but it was far enough away from both popov and stolie to tell a difference. the thing is that i do not know how many times you can run it through the brita w/o finishing the cartridge's capacity. think about it, you took out enough pollutants from a handle to change the damn taste. that's a lot. those things don't seem to last forever even on regular tap water, of which you don't take out nearly as much as you do from the cheap vodka. food for thought

uhhhhhh..... not sure how beers, ciders, or wine really fit his requirements, as he wants both cheap and low calorie, and cheap wine will never beat cheap booze on a per drink basis. also, he said he's looking after his body, so not eating for a while is out of question as well. seems he needs to go with cheap, clear hard alcohol, pretty much putting us to vodkas and grains. grain alcohol is cheap, but imo gives horrible hangovers, vodka is cheap if it is crap, but if you filter it you can get a respectable product, i'm just not fully sure if it is really long term economical, if you need a new brita cartridge for each handle (they must be under $10 tho, so even if they only did a handle, which i bet they coudl do more, you'd still be getting kind of a deal)

Well alot of the stuff you people are suggesting are american brands. I don't think I've seen popov or 5 o'clock in canada. Unfortuneatly alcohol is more expensive in Canada to. I've heard Windex will get you drunk, that or mouth wash. I'm not really sure whats super cheap in Canada. I'd say maybe 40's of malt.

i know i've referred to popov as cheap vodka in this thread. forget brand names, when we are talking about putting it through a carbon filter we mean the cheapest vodka your local store has

Absolute cheapest way, if you or a friends got a nebulizer, like those ppl with asthma have to aersosol their meds. Take a clean nebi cup an fill the nebi cup with 1 tablespoon with vodka or teqeuila and smoke away. It goes straight to the lungs and into the blood system. One tablespoon should be enough even for some heavier set guys; cause too much and you get alchol poiosoning.

I learned this @ asthma camp one summer from my camp counsler.

Just no malt liquior because it suds up an doesn't aerosol as good.

Get on the mailing list at a local club. Last night I got stupid drunk for $2 total.

Friend drives, other 3 of us kick in $2 each to park ($6 total). Get to club at 9, no cover. Also, open bar from 9-10 (because I was on the list). Drink FAST for an hour. Stays with you all night.

nice drew. okay i was thinking along cheapest products, but title is cheapest way to get drunk, so i'll add some i've done and liked. at my uni we are always just taking cups when someone rests it down at a kegger, there's your free night of unlimited (gross) keg beer. also, we have (well, had, off campus now) dorm parties, and typically they just put an x on your hand with marker, so if you have a few colors of marker (red blue green) you can get into most of those pretty easily.

or you can always do what i did when i was a high school punk - when at a party, just roll to the freezer really casual, grab the biggest or most expensive bottle, and walk off like the ****'s yours.

he said 'looking after his body somewhat'. and i look after my body and still do drugs, whether alc or whatever. and i still make progress and look how i want to, just because you don't go at it 100% doesn't mean you still aren't looking after your body. it's not black and white like that bro

DumbellDude
05-14-2006, 10:18 AM
Don't get me wrong bro, I don't think it's all black and white. I'm saying that getting drunk on purpose is not a good idea. Although we all did stupid things every once in a while. I don't want to be a critic of other people's lives, just making an argument in good will.

jazer80
05-14-2006, 05:07 PM
you just asked him if he cared to explain how he could look after his body and get drunk at the same time, so i had to share, because 9/10 days i'm very good, but it's not like i'm not committed if i take some e or get drunk once in a while. sure, i'm not 100% committed, but he never said he was, he specifically said he was 'looking after his body somewhat'.

i'm def with you tho, you can't be FULLY committed and still get drunk, or call yourself committed, in my opinion, if you take substances in dosages to cause issues on a weekly basis. actually, i'm not even so sure about that last comment, because i'm sure there's people here making crazy progress getting kind of drunk on friday nights, and may not notice much if any difference when they eliminate that drinking night (maybe friday and sat are there days off from training or soemthing).

also, commitment is kind of an opinion, i'm sure we all have different ideas of how someone should act if htey want to say they're 'committed' to their body

2 words - HOMEMADE WINE

Go to a 'make your own wine place' usually there is a tiny amount of work to do (5-10 min), you get 23Litres of wine at the end (30 bottles)(you can get 4-6week kits), and it works out to about $2-$3 per bottle. Depending on the wine you pick, it can actually taste pretty good too. I did this throughout a large part of college, and always brought 5-6bottles of wine with me to parties. (NO - I didn't drink all that.) If you get them to not put the sulphites in there that reduces any hangover potential in the wine.

This is totally the way to go!

Take an Old English 40 and drink it down to the label. Then fill the bottle back up with "Nighttrain" which is cheap ghetto wine. Pour in some cherry kool-aid flavoring and shake it up and put it in the fridge for a couple hours. Down that and you'll be good to go.

I would argue that as soon as you decide to search out the cheapest kind of alcohol for the sole purpose of getting drunk as cheaply as possible, it is reasonably likely that you are already throwing in the towel with calorie watching.

That aside though - no matter what alcohol you drink, you're looking at obscene amounts of empty calories. (too get drunk anyway).

According to fitday:

one glass of wine has about 72 calories
one ounce of whiskey - 70 calories
one ounce of rum - 65 calories
one ounce of gin - 74 calories
one bottle of beer - 148 calories
one bottle of light beer - 100 calories

not necessarily. he's looking after his body 'somewhat'. if he needs 7 drinks to get drunk, as the title suggests that is the state he's looking for, and he uses beer instead of vodka, he will consume much extra calories.

i don't think those figures, actually i'm sure those figures, don't consider calorie contribution from ethanol. ethanol is more caloric, per gram, than carbs or protein, i think it's 6 or 7 calories per gram (4 for carbs/proteins, 9 for fat). considering that there's about 14g of ethanol per 'drink' (shot, beer, glass wine), i'm pretty certain your figures contributed only the carbohydrate calories of said drinks, not their entire calorie content.

if that's the case, vodka should have very little calories over the ethanol, so we're talking maybe 70 or 80 calories per drink. if he has 7 drinks, and adds like 100 calories per drink to get that much more carbs in it, that's a huge boost.

i could be missing something here, i googled all that real quick cuz i'm in a real rush, but i think that's pretty on point. bottom line is i don't think those figures take into account ethanol at all.
