Well there was an article around here that said protien before a workout is bad. So I would cut that out. But since complex carbs are slow digesting I guess 2 hours is ok.

You what?

2 hours before a workout is just a regular meal, your Pre-workout/PWO shake/meal should contain carbs/dextrose/BCAA's/creatine etc.

Not all complex carbs digest slowly.

An yeah, where was that article?

If the meal right before your workout really effects your results that much then either your overall diet sucks or your probably dieting really harsh. Your body is most likely not using what you just ate an hour to 2 hours ago to fuel your workout. (unless your eating nothing but dex and whey in water all day)

Its one study, with 10 trained men. I bet theres >10 people on this site that live by their whey before workout.

(i would say more but you can just read what I wrote in that thread)

I agree to an extent, but I do find a high-carb meal 1.5-2hrs before my workout gives me more energy and, consequently, a better workout.

Complex carbs + protein shake one hour before a workout works gives me lots of energy.
