Did your ass come completely off the bench? A amazing feat regardless, congrats.

honestly i don't know. it was close. i think i kept my ass on the bench, but only barely. i was certainly trying to... i'll work on the form in the future. for now im just happy i put the **** up... haha

Why would you be doing that without a spot??? Especially with the clips on. WHat if you couldn't get it back up? You couldn't even tip it off you. Congrats on the lift, but be safer next time.

Good job on getting the weight up man. Defiantly wouldn't qualify in a meet though (just from the foot movement alone).

Nice lift Mic. Looked pretty good. But were you wearing a button up dress shirt for that?

Congrats on the lift man!!! The 1st time to hit 315 is a big BIG day!

It looks like you had it easy enough that a repeat performance with unquestionable form is right around the corner. Probably just a matter of practice.

Had to be dressed for the occasion!

I'm pretty sure his balls dropped a little bit farther after that lift.

Mine will.

3 plates is a good feeling. I got it for the first time yesterday. That being said.....it's a lot of weight.....if something happened.....you tore a pec.....your shoulder went out....etc.....him being 5 feet away isn't going to do much good. Once the weight comes down on your chest/neck it's too late.

Form was bad, but you moved the weight. How many times can you get 275??

Mic Soloist
05-23-2006, 01:29 PM
thanks a lot guys. i can hit 275 x 3-4 on a good day. i think i might be able to get 295 x 2 on a great day, but the form on my second rep would probably suffer... just like the form in the 315 vid. i didnt bounce it much if at all. it may look that way due to ****ty vid quality, but i made an effort not to bounce. however i didnt pause at all either.

Nice lift man!

This guys form just looks like it hurts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBrkpKwpoRs&search=bench%20press%20bodybuilding%20weightlifting%20strongman%20powerlifting

Is that the right form for a powerlifter? He's trying to make his rom smaller but it looks like a dangerous form to me. Not to hijack your thread mic...

jesus christ. thats paniful just watching! Why do that? That form just cries back problems in later life.
I never have an arch like that when benching. If at all.

KarateBoy

Now I'm confused, some say its okey to arch your back while benching if you keep your ass on the bench, others say keep your back flat.

Sorry for the derail.

Great strenght, what do you weigh?

I use to use that form, a few times, it is VERY painful on ur back. I quit using it. I use a SMALL arch now.

Glad to see you got 315. Yes, it is heavy lol.

Your form was fine. Great lift!

No, it would not count in a powerlifting meet because you would have to pause the weight.

Mic Soloist
05-23-2006, 04:14 PM
chris has spoken... :)

glad to here it wasnt totally terrible. but honestly as long as i can lift it up, bring it down, and lift it back up without crushing my internal organs, i consider myself successful.

i'm 5'10, 210-215 (depending on time of day). other stats are in sigs.

You handled the weight SUPER easy off the rack and about half way up. Good explosion off the chest. You handle the weight like you could rep it.
Good job.

Congrats! 315 is a huge milestone.

Looked strong - I like how fast the bar moves - i think you have more in you.

It wouldn't have passed in any PL meet. You can't move your feet, you moved around on the bench, it looked like you ass came up, your extension was a little uneven, and there was no pause.

I think if you focus a little on getting your form down, you can actually bench more than that. Keeping your feet still and getting set up so you don't move will probably increase your press.

Nice work Mic. I know for some of us non-powerlifters a repetition is a repetition (well as long as it ain't horrible). Even if you wanted to do perfect form, I'm sure you're not more than a few weeks away.

Congratulations man 315 is a huge milestone and I know I'm gonna feel great eventually when I get up to there.

great lift. i remember when i hit 300 it was a great feeling, when i hit 315 i was happy because i finally hit 3 wheels. yesterday i was doing board work and was doing 405 (4 plates) it is a good feeling when you go up in plates. but that lift wouldent qualify just because of u lifted ur ass and ur feet. and it wasent paused. im the same way with the feet tho i cant hold em still. but still congrats keep up the good work
