For me it was pretty slow as far as literally seeing results...maybe a year or two. But I noticed that I could lift more soon after I started.
Something you might want to do. Take some pictures of your muscles...and then look back at them a year or two from now. I wish I would have done that 7 years ago when I started lifting. I'm no Incredible Hulk now, but I'm sure there would be quite the difference over the past 7 years!

Yeah takes pics, measure the girth of body parts, and write down your working sets and maxes right now. The thing with "seeing" results is that it's not like you're going to wake up one day, look in the mirror, and be like "damn I got huge". It kinda creeps up on you.
Of course the more you eat, the faster you'll get big.

Yes, I agree, take measurements. It's the best way to monitor your progress. Pics can be very deceiving. What are your goals??

It's alright, not everyone can catch references.

The day you wake up an realize your clothes no longer fit is a beautiful thing, though. Unless, of course, it's because of your ever-increasing waistline.

what is that, hitchhikers guide, right?
As to the OP, somewhere around 6 months in is when everyone I know starts saying to me "When did your arms get so big" and "Have you put on some size?"
I usually notice changes after a couple of months. Usually the first thing I notice is if my traps or neck are any bigger, because it's what I see in the mirror every morning as I'm trying to peer through the blood that's collected in my eyeballs.
