speed is my main asset, and im worried if i become really big, i woll lose my speed
I'm in the same boat :(

Yeah I would watch out for that bulking and losing speed epidemic that's going around. You start lifting and eating more and then BAM, one morning you wake up huge and slow. It sucks.

yeah, im staying away from supps.....and i just have to know when to stop...i have a long way to go though
Skinny Fat
06-01-2006, 09:26 AM
You know, Tofer, I did the same thing. One day I decided to eat an extra 500 calories and did a quick 5x5 squat routine, and the next morning I woke up and I was 6'7", 350lbs, and was the slowest guy on my block. It really sucked.

Yeah, who would want to be huge when you can be skinny and quick, flitting and fleeting like a pretty pink ribbon in the wind.

to the poster of this topic....your 147lbs....don't worry about becoming "too big" anytime soon, please...
eat eat eat and read the diet forum for help

Ya I really wouldnt worry about becoming "too big". If you want, you can keep up with a clean bulk all year round. It will take longer but you wont lose speed. If anything, youll probably become faster.

If your 17 your probably a senior and assuming this will be your last year playing football, 145 is way to small for varsity you need to try and put on 15-20 pounds while maintaining your speed

Yeah, it's great that you play soccer, but incorporating lifting into your schedule will benefit your abilities greatly. Weightlifting will help with explosiveness, strength, power, and everything related. With more muscle you'll be better prepared to take abuse and give it also. Don't worry about an extra ten pounds of muscle. If anything it will help you.

Yeah, well usually when people pack on weight too quickly it's because of a dirty bulk, a bulk where they eat massive amounts of calories without looking at macronutrient breakdown. Stick to eating 200 calories above maintenance and eat lots of protein and you'll be good.

There's one example. If you do a search or weight just a few hours I am sure many of our veteran members would be glad to find more pertinent information for you regarding agility, speed, ect.

I think you look good. A bit on the small side, but a nice low bodyfat. I think it is much more impressive to stay under 10% on the quest to get big.

 They do???
Well...you learn something new everyday right?
Squat and Plyos... and you will never loose your speed...
Plenty of Football/Soccer folks that weigh 180 lbs and are still quite speedy...
And plenty of US Football players over 225 lbs and can still run <4.5 sec 40 yd dashes..
Eat up dude.. left heavy... sleep enough..
Squat, DL, Pullups, Presses... and use explosive Plyo training - all bodyparts.

id say at least 20, ;), dont worry about things like that, i try not to lift in proportion to my body but instead to have lifts that are impressive for a person of any weight. just lift heavy and lift low reps, also dont worry about losing speed like others have suggested, 50 pounds heavier you will not be anything but faster and better at sports.
