It doesnt seem like much to a lot on this board, but for me, I am stoked. I was stuck at 200 lbs for the longest time. Couldnt get anywhere. But I stoped doing Barbell bench all of spring quarter ( switched to the dumbells ), and just last week Techo and I tried to see what we could max. That day I was able to put up 205 without a hitch. That really got me jacked up. Then we were supposed to max on wednesday, but we lifted today ( was just going to do very light to keep me fresh ) and I was feeling good in my lifts so I decided to go for it today. Well, it was a good decision because today I got 225. I was so excited, and I stilll am. Just had to share because my bench has been a really big problem for me, especially since I weigh in at 240 right now and I cant do BW. So, I am hoping I can carry this momentum on.

thanks. Yeah the two plates "traninig wheels" is just awesome... I have been lifting seriously for about a little over a year ( started my freshman year. Got serious about legs, but not much else. then it all went downhill till this past year ). I am still on a high because I wanted to do it before I graduated college, and my graduation ceremony is saturday, so I cut it close. :D

I was noob my when I got my 2 wheels, and still am. Took forever to hit my BW on bench, but I had a large BW rofl.

Cool, can I share to ? I took a week off, and on Sunday June 04 I tried to see if I can do more than my old max. Read sig. +20 lbs. difference. I think 225 lbs. would take me forever, since it's been a few months and finally I am at 200.

300 is a sweat # to hit man...good luck with that...and 75 pounds in that amount of time to add to your bench shows you are working hard.

I have yet to push the 3 plates b/c I only have a 300lb set at my house but I can get the whole set for 2 reps fairly easy. I would like to go to the gym and throw on 3 plates...but there was something about 225..I gues it is when you are fairly new to weight training so you get more stoked. Maybe I will get all excited IF I ever get to 4 plates.

persevirence and you will get it my friend!

Keep adding an extra 2.5lbs to the bar each workout, and you will progress! ;) It wont be easy cuz 225 is a doddle compared to 315, its a whole new ball game, just like 315 is piss easy compared to 400lbs.
But not impossible. Progressive overload and youve got it in the bag!:D :D

Adding 45's to each side is a big milestone no matter if they your 2nd set of 45s or your 5th set of 45's (lol thats like 495 and fuggen BEAST).

Cant wait for the day I hit 4 plates per side raw, but the way things are going thats like 18 months from now lol.

Yea thanks man I probly got about 15lbs to go til 300, I am hoping to hit it before the second or third week in july(that is when my next week off will be) and I am pretty sure I will, hopefully Ill be putting up 315 or better by sept when I have to stop seriously lifting for hockey.

Thanks for the encouragement Wolfe and others, I know 315 is going to be a whole new beast, but I think a large part of my lacking bench has been my mentality about it. I have always hated the bench, because I thought I wasn't any good at it. But now having hit what I feel is a decent number, I have proven to myself that I am not bad at it, and that I just need to approach it differently. So 315 here I come

When everyone says raw does that mean no shirt or no shirt and no arch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Age: 16
Weight: 228
Squat: 450
Deadlift: 475-500
Bench: 315 (no arch, no bouncing on chest, no shirt)

The only way I bench brotha, I dont care if people arch or use equipment but I cant really see myself doing either.

I don't arch either. Since I lift for sports, the muscular development is more important to me than the weight I put up. By arching, I would be cheating my chest out of the work and using my lats. It seems like a waste to me unless you are a powerlifter who is just concerned with the amount of weight.
