have any of you tried that Starkist stay-fresh pouch tuna?

the kind that comes in the bags, and not cans?

if so..your experiences? how's it taste? good stuff? a$$? what?

Yup. Tried it(Starkist Albacore) when it first came out and didn't much care for it. I thought it tasted kind of dry. But I bought a couple of single, serving packages of Starkist Light Tuna(which typically is Skipjack) last week or so and thought it was pretty decent(I just ate it out of the pouch with a little salt added.)

i think it tastes just as good as tuna in the can. eat the pouch every day. I don't have to carry a can opener around anymore.

hmmm....does it smell as much as canned tuna does?

i've been curious about it for a while....but i've been scared to try it, cuz it just seems unnatural..*lol*

Save yourself some money and stick with the 40 cent cans.

I have 4 boxes of it... its pretty good and you can get it cheap at Sams Club or Bulk store places... I think it tastes the same as regular tuna...

I don't like starkist because the quality isn't high enough. But, i would love to be able to eat tuna out of a can.

40 cent cans? That's disgusting. I get the albacore stuff.... :D The stuff in the bags is pretty good, actually and it has more protein, but more fat. The Chicken of the Sea and Starkist brands are pretty good.

those damn pouches are way to expensive. If you just ate tuna 1 or twice a month then thats fine but at kroger they are twice as expensive for the pouch than the can.

1 can = about 50 cens

1 pouch = $2 or more

the pouches are great when travelling. clover leaf has them out now here in canada. my only beef with them is they only have 22g of protein when a can has about 30g which I like.

The other day the bi-lo here in town had tuna for 19 cents a can. Tuna in a pouch in nasty. Too dry. Peanut butter with tuna? ehhhhh! Thats not for me. Every now and then I melt some cheese in my tuna its really good.

I dont really like chunk tuna, I do like white albocore and skipjack. The pouch idea is cool but I dont think its worth the extra cost.
