NOW that makes it worth the $30, LOL! I'm serious thats so worth it.

Well it's self-calibrating as well. So for instance, I can place a shaker filled with milk on top of the scale. Then I turn it on and the scale sets the shaker to 0 (like it's not even on there). So then you add whatever you want until you reach the appropriate amount. Or you can put a plate on there and set it to 0 and then put chicken breasts or whatever. It's pretty handy.

If you click the link you can see a pic of it. You can put all kinds of food in that big plastic tray that sits on top of the scale (the scale is removable...it just sits on top in place). I use it to measure out portions of cut up chicken all the time. Mmmm...teriyaki. :)

haha, do you work for Walmart? Thats some good advertising.

YOU had me at...

Then I turn it on and the scale sets the shaker to 0 (like it's not even on there)

That's getting a little pricey.

I didn't buy online but this (http://www.kitchen-universe.com/detail.aspx?ID=228) is the model I use. Does everything that sCaRz's can but seems a little pricey in comparison.

I bought a $30 digital kitchen scale from Target and it sucks. It seems to not weigh properly and it won't zero correctly. Pretty crappy for $30. I think I'm going to just go buy a regular (non-digital) scale for like $10...I only use it to weigh meat anyways.

for the 30 dollar one, how much is the 9 volt battery and how long does it usualy last?

KingWilder

the description says it comes with a 9V battery...when you end up having to buy more later it's like $7 for 2

It's just a digital scale. The battery lasts a long ass time.

It's listed on the web site as $59, but is $39 in the stores.

It's probably got more functions than I'll ever use...

That looks like overkill and I couldn't see how much maximum weight the scale can measure.

I need to get a kitchen scale, so I will pick one up soon, but I have one concern....cleaning. I have one measuring cup which I use about 5 times a day, and I clean it a lot (I'm gonna get more) but I just really hate having to clean after each amount of food (such as raw eggs, stuff you kind of have to clean)

Can you get extras of the plates they use on it to weigh so I can switch between the 2 so there is less cleaning between each session?

Just use any of your normal plates/bowls/tupperware/etc. It's not rocket science.

You weigh food... you track your food intake...

The function is called TARE, it lets you take for a example a bowl, you put it on the scale, hit the TARE button, it resets to zero. when you take the bowl off it should give you a -weight meaning the scale is set to -weight of bowl so that what gets added to the bowl is added on from zero..

rubbermaid makes these cereal/food bowls (no tops) that are cheap and dont weigh a damn thing. they are great for tare, and horrible for eating out of.

I got the one from walmart. It's pretty accurate...a 500 ml bottle of water weights 532 grams according to this scale. I drank all the water and measured just the empty bottle and the bottle was 26 grams. Somewhere it lost 6 grams.

20 dollar drug scale at whatever the hell Radio Shack renamed themselves.

Grams to ounces, you can zero it, and it's tiny - I've even brought it with me to all you can eat sushi places to weigh out the tuna.
