Does water based drinks such as green tea, powdered gatorade, iced tea, etc... count towards the daily minimum of 64 ounces of water? Or should it be just pure water as the only thing that counts as water?

Yes...that counts. You should be drinking more than 64 ounces.

As long as what you are drinking isn't a diuretic. Coffee, for example, will dehydrate you and you need to drink more water to compensate.

Also 64 ounces is 8 cups, the "reccomended" amount. Around here, it is reccomended to drink a gallon of water - 128 ounces.

128 ounces/8 = 16 cups

Holy cow

The minimum I've read is about 104 ounces. That's about 5 bottles of water. It doesn't have to be water. It can be from milk, water, etc...

Do you realize how much water your body is made up of?

yeah I dont think anyone should have a problem getting that much water in their system. Hell I get almost that much from milk alone.

i like to count only water in that amount. It saves $$$ you would spend on things like powdered gatorade and diet soda pops

Good idea. I hate spending lots of money on non-alcoholic drinks ;)

Also, your protein shakes would countribute to the gallon of water per day. As I said before, anything that isn't a diuretic counts.

You get water from food too; especially in vegetables like asparagus (sp?). I just drink about 16oz a meal and I am good. Plus I don't pee as often if I drink water after a meal.
