I have searched through some of the pre-exhisting threads already and found nothing to my concern-Which follows.

I weight 165 lbs, 5'11-6'0. I'm not a fat person but I have no shape and/or form to me. I work at a carlot. I could be doing anything from answering the phone to pulling a motor. My problem is I work everyday but sunday, 9-6. 9-3 on Saturday. And I am not very fond of the gym. My brother has his own weight room and I do have access to equipment. I figure i'm at a good weight and age to start lifting weights. I want to get muscle tone and strength. I would love some muscle mass but the muscle tone and strength are what i'm aiming for. I refuse to use any weight gainer/protein shakes. I'm not looking to become huge, but extremely fit and cut. Athletic body. The defined six-pack, chest arms etc.

I need some advise on how to best achieve this. I also hear running/walking is good for the abdomen. I only drink water, no cokes or sport drinks. Cutting out all meats besides fish for the simple fact its the best source omega 3 fatty acids. Is it higher reps, lower weight for muscle tone?

Any advise helps.

You didn't do a very thorough search as this has been answered a million times before.

If you want to put on some muscle and eventually become aesthetic/athletic looking, you're going to have to gain some weight (bulk), and then go on a cut to "define" your body. Lowering your body fat will make you cut up. You can bulk for however long you want, and when you're satisfied with your muscle gain, you can then go on a cut.

Is it higher reps, lower weight for muscle tone? No, diet will make you defined. Always do low reps, heavy weight, whether you're on a bulk or a cut.

What's your current diet look like? You're training routine? Do you track everything you eat? If you don't, you need to start tracking your diet on www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com).

Cutting out all meats besides fish for the simple fact its the best source omega 3 fatty acids. Why are you cutting out meats?

I'm not looking to become huge, but extremely fit and cut. Athletic body. The defined six-pack, chest arms etc.Getting HUGE takes a LOT of effort, time, and hard work. You're not going to somehow accidentally wake up looking like the Hulk one morning. You can look however you want. It just takes time, hard work, dedication, and the right knowledge.

Yeah those protein shakes and weight gainer shakes should be banned. My brother accidentally drank one once and woke up the next morning a bulky monster. :(

I refuse to use any weight gainer/protein shakes. There's nothing wrong with protein shakes. Why would you refuse to use protein shakes?

I agree, low reps high weights no matter what your goals. Change your diet to change your size. Mainly for gaining any kind of mass (and that means lean muscle) you will have to start eating. Going above your maintenance calories will add weight; going below that number will make you lose weight.
Getting you abs to show is by diet. You can grow a 6 pack by doing crunches and so on but if you never take it out of the cooler… you’ll never see them.

Best of luck
