im 6'2 165. I cannot put on weight. I am cursed. I work out my entire body, including legs every single week. I have seen gains, but I have leveled off. I am constantly changing up my work outs, and I will be soar after a work out, but the gains just dont stick.
I have been told that a weight gainer may be the best option for me. Wanted to get feedback on that idea. Any suggestions for a good weight gainer to experiment with?

one day for chest/back/shoulders
second day for biceps/triceps/legs
day off
repeat.
each muscle group gets 3 different exercises each day the group is worked. 3 sets per exercise. 6-9 reps on each set.
As for my diet, 3 meals a day. 2 Muscle Milk shakes during the day as well.

Those three meals a day will only be sufficient if each one is around 1300 cals. You need to eat more, regardless of how you adjust your routine.
Do WBB1 instead of what you're doing.

How old are you buddy?
Anyways yes food will be the most important to gain. here are some foods I find help gain weight easy, keep in mind even though you are trying to gain weight, focus on good foods still as much as possible, but dont' worry too much about a bit of junk here and there, but you still need to focus on quality foods:
Beef ( i like lean ground beef)
Natural Peanut Butter
Almonds
Eggs (whole & whites)
Milk
Fruits and some veggies but veggies may fill you up to quick and won't provide much in the way of calories
Cheese
Potatoes
Oatmeal
Rice
Pizza works well for the extreme ecto
These are just a few foods that come to the top of my head, of course there are a ton more, I didn't list they typical chicken breast and rice dishes b/c a lot of folks read the typical magazine diet that is geared more towards leaness or just what people want to hear.
The problem with a lot of weight gainers on the market is that if you read the label correctly your paying for a lot of sugars. You should just buy your favorite regular protein powder and add in things like natural peanut butter, bananas, etc to incraese the calories in them and have them in between your meals.
As for training remember not to train more then 4 days a week, maybe when trying to gain a lot of weight limit it to 3 days.

only problem with shakes in between meals for me is that its very hard to fit into my schedule. Practically impossible actually. I work in an insurance office. Hmmm....perhaps some good protein bars instead?
Im 20 years old.
Natural peanut butter? As in... not JIF brand?
I was looking at this for a weight gainer...

And as for protein, I have been using Cyto Sports Muscle Milk.

It is only impossible if you say it is.
And you don't need to buy a weight gainer.

Should I get two different types of protein powder? A fast acting whey for during the day, and a slower acting protein for before bed. How do you guys like the Muscle Milk that I am using now?
Had steak and potatoes today for dinner. Trying to eat correctly as well.
Bah...so many different things to look at. I'm interested in lean mass too, so thats something else I have to consider. My target is 180-185. I'm not training to be a body builder or a lineman.

hah, I was a "hard-gainer" myself, or so I thought. I have put on 17 lbs. in a few months, you can do it too. Lift heavy and EAT! Figure out your maintenance calorie requirements, and add 500- 1000 cals EVERY DAY to it. Keep a food diary with you all the time. I like the Opticen that is sold here, it is good stuff. Good luck and stick with it.

Then you stay at that caloric intake until you stop gaining. And then you add another few hundred calories every week or so until you are seeing gains again. No need to add 500-1000 calories every day.

1.5-2 cups of milk (2% or whole)
1 cup of oatmeal
3-4 tbs of peanut butter
1 tbs of olive oil
1 scoop of whey protein
1 banana (optional)
1 tbs of honey (optional)
Throw it all in a blender and blend until all the oatmeal is crushed up into a liquid.
Have one for breakfast and another in the evening (it takes like 3 minutes to make). I don't care how much of a hard-gainer you are, I promise you you'll gain weight (each shake is over 1200 calories). Everything in it, except the whey protein powder, is incredibly cheap to buy, and since you know exactly what's going in there I personally think it's better than any weight-gain powder you can buy.
