just wonderin, do you not do bacl alot?
I know everyone is different but when I first started doing deadlifts it was my strongest lift even after working out every other body part for a few months.

you look good to me. I think you should stay where you are at weight wise, give or take. Really, really slow bulk. Sometimes it is about quality and not quantity.

For a squat of 300+, your legs look like they need a lot of work.

yeah, Im suspecting the good ol 4" squat is in play here.

dblockspky
07-02-2006, 02:53 PM
no.. I go all the way down to parallel. which IMO is harder for a 6'0" person to do than a shorter one. and i've always been told i've had skinny legs and they just don't want to seem to grow. but they've always been strong because I grew up playing soccer and basketball. ****.. nobody used to believed me when I said I could bench 240 when I was 14 either.. until they saw me do it. so I guess I'd have to get it recorded for people on here to believe me

oh and squatting in the 300s is nothing if you think thats a lot. A lot of kids from my town and a couple from my school are well over 400 with squat. and two short stalky kids from my school also hit 500.. but i don't count those myself because it neither one of them go to parallel IMO

meh, I just find it really hard to believe you squat 335, and not only have legs that physically small, but also deadlift so little.

But, post a vid and prove all of sceptics wrong.

For the record, I wasn't disbelieving you. I don't see any reason for a person to lie on an internet forum anyway. I can say I'm 6ft, 200lbs at 8% but it doesn't make it true.

Anyways, if you're not gaining size, sort your diet out! Your legs WILL grow if you supply them with enough calories and protein.

whatever you say toki.
and my deadlift isn't a lot because it was never a part of my routine.. to be honest legs was never a huge part of it. I just started my serious routine a couple weeks ago. and I just added deadlifts last tuesday after reading a magazine recommending them and I wondered why I had never did them.

What would be a good deadlift for somebody that's 180? I never really see a lot of people doing them at my gym so I can't really compare myself to them.

2x BW is always a good target to aim for for deads.

Also they're usually considered more of a back exercise, although they do utilise the legs too

If you want to gain fifteen more pounds you need to start squatting, deadlifting and doing benchpresses. Or atleast making them the cornerstones of your workout. Since I incorporated them into my workout (squats and deads), I have gained nearly twelve pounds of LBM.

BTW, I don't disbelieve that you squat 335. Some people don't realize that that's not even 2 x BW for you. Besides, I know guys who squat that much who weigh 140 lbs. If you said you squated 400 then I'd be skeptical.

a 335 parallel squat sounds reasonable. Now if we were talking about atf then I would be a bit skeptical, unless he trained for the lift specifically

Look go bra. Like the rest said, SLOW bulk. You have a good size for being 6'0 and 180. I am 6'0 bout 205. You stole all my good genes!!! lol...keep up the good work!

ok thanks everybody.
so I should aim for 2x body weight for deads so.. 360 atleast?
and if I do go on a slow bulk.. what should I aim for gaining 1 pound a week?

Edit: holy **** Guido you said 400-500???????? i got a lot of work to do lmao.
well.. my it was my first week last week and the workout was pretty easy leaving me to be leave that my deadlift max was at least 250, but thats still severely under what everybody is saying I should be

Your a pretty big 17 year old.

Everything looks good, except the legs of course. Just keep squatting and deadlifting, and remember, weight doesn't meen anything if your form is off. I would say your deadlift is a little low compared to your other stats, but it may be harder for you since your 6', I don't really know since I'm short.

As for the squats, I don't know how anybody can't believe you. You did admit you were only going to parallel, so 300+ isn't rediculous. Heck, I can do 300+ ATF, but some people probably won't believe me either.

Thanks
believe it or not I can actually ATF 315 now. I don't know what to do about my legs anymore. with all my other lifts the stronger I get the more definition I see. but with my legs I never see anything.and the only reason I could think of was that I had to much fat around my legs. but when i had my BF done... my legs actually hold the least amount on my body. so i dunno whats up with that
