i have been doing this for about 2 years. I haven't had any great gains. I am just now trying to eat more to gain mass. Should I stick with this or move to a different routine? Im 5'8" 150lbs. 34 yr old male around 10% bf. I don't do legs because I've had 3 hernia's which im sure was due to legs. Tired of the surgery and time out of the gym.

Monday - Chest
Tuesday - Shoulders
Wed - Rest
Thur - Back
Friday - Bi's/Tri's
Weekend - Rest

I've been reading alot on here that you shouldnt dedicate a day to arms. I had no idea. Maybe this is why im not gaining?

Thanks from the new guy.

Usually 4-5 sets with 8-10 reps. About 4 exercises for each muscle group.

For diet, I eat 6 meals a day. It totals about 2000-2500 calories 200-250 g protein. About 60g fat.

Also, I don't use the barbell bench. I use dumbells but can do 100lb dumbells. Not sure if this is hindering gains either. My workout partner has bad shoulders so thats why we avoid the barbell.

Legs?

Edited to add - ah, I see about the hernias.

Surely you can do SOME leg work though, can't you?

if your workout partners have bad shoulders why are YOU avoiding the barbell?

I probably could do some light legs. I'm just used to going as heavy as I can. I feel like I wont get gains going light.

It's just easier to do the same exercise instead of going back and fourth. Would I get more gains with the barbell? My chest always feels super pumped after a good dumbell press though.

You have to start somewhere! Leg strength will built faster than you would think!

So have him take the dumbells where the Barbell bench is! They surely wouldn't be in the way when they are on the ground! Using the barbell will allow you to go much heavier than with dumbells!

if your progress is lagging then may be you should try switching to barbell and see how it goes.
