What will a scoop of flaxseeds in my shake do for me? My mom bought it for me because she thought I'd like it but honestly I don't know what it does. Should I use it in my shake?

Do a google search for "essential fatty acids", flaxseeds are an excellent source of them. They are very nutritional and helpful to the goals of most bodybuilding nutrition. Also a good source of healthy fats and fiber.

Flax SEEDS need to be ground if they are to be used as a source of EFAs. Otherwise they're indigestible and act as a source of fibre.

and they oxidize quickly, so you have to grind 'em and eat 'em right away after. Plus, there are conversion issues with the ALA to EPH/DHA in flax oil. Mostly the seeds are useful for the fiber. But flax seeds also contain a goitrogen. I'm very much on the fence with flax.
