What is a good bank? I need to close my account @ TCF and need a good, non-piece of **** bank without any foreigners who dont speak English or **********s who dont speak it properly. Don't ever bank with TCF - take it from me. Looking for suggestions .....

Try a credit union. Many credit unions offer higher return rates on savings accounts, offer lower interest rates on loans and you are not just another member.

Yep I would go for a credit union, I've had mine over 5 years and they have been great. Also they usually charge alot less for overdraft fees and things like that. My friends get charged $30+ dollars for overdrafting I get charged $14.

CREDIT UNIONS ARE THE WAY TO GO. From my understanding, credit unions are a non-profit organization (???), which is why they offer a lot of services at no fee, and features with fees are generally less expensive than you would get at a bank. Or I'm completely wrong. :D
Anybody wanna back that?

Basically I think the goverment is involved in some way with them too or the state not sure. mine is so cheap that I only need to have a minimum of $5.00 in my savings account and $0.00 in my checking. It used to be $25.00 minimum in savings account but they dropped it down not sure why.

I keep hearing good things about credit unions (yes, outside of this forum) and now I'm just wondering... how come not everyone just joins a credit union if they are that good?
I'm tempted to say they don't come in big chains or something like that. Anyone wanna fill me in a little?

I hate Wells Fargo, National City, and anything related to a major credit card.
Find the bank that's the most prominent in your region and use it. That way, your ATM fees won't pile up. All banks pretty much suck.
