View Full Version : Wolfy hits 835 today

Hey guys did my meet today got 835. I openend at 800 and missed it twice then came back for a 3rd attempt at 835 and smoked it. My shirts were way to tight and I was having a hard time finding the groove with 800. I switched shirts after my first attempt thinking it might help. But it was also to tight, so I decided if I was gonna bomb I was gonna go down fighting. So I went for the bigest bench of the day at 835 and smoked it. I did not get best lifter, but took first place in the SHW's and set a 5 pound contest pr for myself. I should of opened around 835 and went from there. Oh well start the diet tomorrow and gonna do another meet in 2 weeks.

But i'll tell you this the guy who got best lifter his name is John Zemmins out of Detriot Barbell. This guy is a beast he did 830 at a bodyweight of 275. That is FREAKING NUTZ!!!!!!

My Buddy, Joel Toranzo, smoked his first 800 this week at a meet on Long Island.

It was a good day for 800 lb benches I guess. :)

Two weeks? How do you train inbetween (essentially) back to back meets like that?

Not to speak for him, but I think when it's bench-only it is much simpler.

If you put Saturday as your heavy bench day, a meet(bench-only) should not be any more demanding then a heavy bench session. So, you could still do your speed/assistance/whatever you do bench day during the week(say Tues/Wed, then do another heavy session the Saturday out from the next meet. I assume that's how most do it.

I weighed in at a very hefty 414 :) I start my diet in the morning gonna follow the At Large Nutrtion Fat Loss plan. I'll be taking pics and postingthem along the way. I'm taking full advantage of chowing now, I just downed 3 hotdogs, a ice cream fudge bar, and a big glass of Grape Kool Aid. Going back for another fudge bar in a mimnute and that will be the end :(

At Large's Laura Phelps smoked a VERY solid 430, she is amazing and like my little twin. I think she competed in the 165's but not for sure.

As for the training I was not planning on doing the met in a couple of weeks but I want my run at 860. That was my goal for today, so if i can comeback and hit it that will be great. So what I'll do is hit a speed day this week on weds and then hit another speed day on Sunday and then rest the whole week.

I think my brother in law and my buddy both taped it. When I get the vid I'll post it. I got 2 whites and a red so I fouled at the top on my rack signal, thehead judge said I had just started to go towards the rack when he said rack so he redlighted me. But 2 whites = good lift. I wanna see it on tape also.

And my best contest raw lift is 600 at New England Record Breakers back in May. It should of been more but I train as a shirted lifter so all my training revolves around the shirt. I trained 4 weeks for the raw meet and I weighed in at like 395 up there.

HAHAHA!!!! LOL!!!! I actually have accomplished a total of 30 minutes of cardio this week. 5 minutes on the bike and 25 miutes on the treadmill. I just need to get this diet thing down now :)

Yeah I'm a bench only kid of guy, I only squat in the bathroom in the morning to read the paper and never could deadlift anyhow :)

Hey Bill, Yeah the weight loss is for preventitive health measures, BP is high and just tired of being so sluggish all the time nad not being able to find good clothes that fit right. Your bench is 3x my DL. Its nearly 4x my squat, and nerly 5x my bench. YOUR HUGE. And 400 Lbs is huge.

My technique is pathetic, my coach tells me this all the time :) And after seeing some of my vids I tend to agree. I have a friend that lives west of Ft Worth he is always trying to get me down there to lift. So some day I might.

If my belly was the broadside of a barn(which it looks like it could be) I could not hit it for ****. I still seem to hit low chest but no where near my highspot.And I'm a weeble wobble on the way down, it always seems like I'm fighting the shirt. Hopefully that will be solved this weekend though.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about, look at my highspot on my arch and look where the bar is. If I could tuck a little harder and go towards my feet 2-3 inches I'd cut 4 inches off my push. That is why my tech sucks :)

And another bit of advice to you is to do exactly what you are. Soak up as much info from all the top guys that will talk to you and give it to you. Some guys will be azzholes though and if they are fukk them you dont need 'em.

I will give you any advice I can, but remember what works for me may not work for everyone though. Good luck and train hard!!!!
