View Full Version : How do you guys like to fix your "Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome" ?

I have been waking up in the past few weeks at around 3-5 p.m. Today I woke up at 6 p.m.

The thing is I tend to ignore myself when I wake up...I just love oversleeping.

I just plan on taking 2 pills (6 mg.) of melatonin at around 1-2 a.m. tonight so I hope I can fall asleep and get around 7-10 hours of sleep; waking up at around 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.

So I'll only be awake for only 7-8 hours today.

How do you guys like to "fix" your DSPS ?

1. Do you guys prefer pulling an all nighter and go to sleep the next day at the right time ?

2. Or would you rather sleep for a short amount of time, say 3-6 hours, and then drink a crapload of coffee in the morning ?

3. Other ? Explain ?

My problem is with going to sleep, not waking up. I'd be happy with 10+ hours of sleep and to be honest I often get that much sleep. Getting myself out of bed can be difficult though but I don't really have many responsibilities during the summer so who cares? It's great for gaining weight and having enough energy and strength to lift weights.

I used to have all kinds of problems sleeping.. pulling allnighters, getting up too early, exhaustion during the day, etc...

It wasn't until I was 40 (just last year) that I learned my body's secret...
consistant bedtime!!! Every night go to sleep at the same time.. and wake up at the same time every morning...

For the last year, whenever I do that .. I feel awesome..
When I don't, I feel like crap

11 PM to 6:20 AM...

My job (&family) forces me some times to work outside that timeline.. and I can usually recover within a day..

I've also seen some of my best gains in the last year.. of coarse part of that comes from WBB knowledge too.. but consistant sleep was a big factor for me..

don't know if it will work for you.. but it has for this old-timer who use to think he was invulenable with only 4-5 hours of sleep a day, any time I wanted.. lol

i suffer from insomnia and used to go to bed at 2 or 3am and get out of bed at 10 or 11am. nothing compared to you lol but not so good when working. before i re-entered school, i practiced getting up at 8am and sleeping a little earlier. when school started, the best time of the day to go to the gym was early in the morning at 6am when it just opened - that meant forcing myself to wake up at 5.30am.

was tired for a few days, but the change in sleeping hours worked out eventually and i began going to bed at 10pm.

if your aim is to wake up at 7am each day, i'd say start forcing yourself to get out of bed at 7am from today already, and give yourself a good reason to do so e.g. gym, jog, school. i also agree with bearwolf about consistency.

this is gonna sound dick but...

get a job

seriously while im in school its nothing for me to go to bed at 3 am and wake at 1pm, then screw around, nap at 5 wake at 8 then be up until 3 or 4 am.

but once i got a job where i had to be up at 6 its nothng for me to be in bed before 12 and arise and hit the floor at 6

im still not a morning person but im getting better

also since ive been taking ZMA ive been hitting extremly deep sleep and not waking at night, its great.

put this together. im 21 with a naturally high test level, im supplementing with tribulus which helps elevate it even more, and ZMA which gives you deep sleep and vivid dreams. elevated test levels and vivid dreams? im loving sleep now...lol

Hmmm, yeah I work at a **** hole called a grocery store (not telling which one). Only part time though. So when I work I'd get like 2-3 hours of sleep lol. Surprisingly though, I can get through the day.

Hmm... **** it I think I'll just finish my Friday's workout now, and then stay up the rest of the night and go to bed on Friday at like 9 or so p.m. I work on Saturday; 12-8:30

So...today I woke up at 6 p.m. and I'll have to stay up around 28 hours.

I prefer the second option minus the coffee. If I have no commitments I go to sleep when I want and wake up when I want. I like sleep too much to **** around with it, so I would have to take option two otherwise I'd just pass out while trying to make the all-nighter.

Fortunately, I'm not working and only doing two correspondence courses right now so I can sleep and wake up whenever I please.

Jorge if you can enjoy video games then pulling all nighters are no biggie :)

What's ZMA?

Tribulus -> http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/pro-hormones/tribulus-stack-effects.htm

My personal opinion, you don't need it until your like... 30 years old.

ZMA -> http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/supplements-reviews/zma-z-mass-pm.htm

ZMA...I tried a bottle once. I can't explain it. You'd have to try it yourself. Maybe it's because I was drinking a protein shake (It has calcium in it) at the same time I was taking ZMA; so the ZMA did not get absorbed.

tribulus is a natural herb in pill form which raises the test levels, just take two pills a day, one i the morning and one at night.

i got the idea from a friend of mine about a year ago, he said it worked well for him so im giving it a shot, plus its failry cheap so not a big risk

ZMA is a zinc magnesium arganate vitamin compound, its for athletes because when you work outand sweat alot yo lose alot of those minerals and they aid alot in sleep. so when you replenish these supplies it helps you stay in deep sleep longer, aiding in recovery.

i used to have a small problem with waking during the middle of the night few times for a while then going back , but now i take this stuff abou 30-60 mins before bed and now i sleep like a rock through out the night and wake up completly refreshed
