How long does it take your body to build 1lb of muscle ?

P.S to those who helped me with my PT & 1500 calorie meal plan situation . To update you all. I have fired the PT & am doing the workout that was given to me on my own & I've lost 15lbs & lost 8% Body fat

You answered your own question. There are too many variables to tell. Everyone is different. That said an average of 1 lb per week is a decent rate of gain for an unassisted newbie.

1lb of weight gain = ~3500 calories

I don't know how much of that is muscle, though...I guess it depends on the time frame in which the 3500 cals is consumed.

1 lb of FAT gain is 3500 calories. To gain muscle, I've seen various figures that are significantly less (but greater than the calories stored in the muscle).

Not only is genetics a factor but how long one's been lifting has to be taken into account aswell. I've seen beginners pack on 10 pounds easy in a few months so lifting of pure muscle but it begins to slow down after a while.

Very true my friend put on a quick 10 lbs when he started and a ton of strength.

That's mostly diet. Volume has very little if anything to do with it.

i've asked the identical question and haven't been able to find a solid answer. There's a company that sells plastic mockups of bodyfat that give people visual aids for progress. The 5lb mockup is almost a foot long and 4 inches wide. A quick goodle found this as well..
