Where can I buy a good pair of these for not too much $$? I've been told that they're about the cheapest powerlifting style shoe out there.

$20-30 at almost any sports store.

I went to a general shoe store and had no luck. I'll look in a sports store this weekend.

Any flat shoe like that will work. I use an old pair of Everlast boxing shoes, work great.

How many of these have you seen me wear?
Honestly. How big are your feet, and how do you feel about second hand (but free) chucks?

OMG, a pair of chucks high tops here is over $200 from factory direct stores and wholesalers.

I've been lifting in a pair of Omni's, nike clone dress shoes that I picked up for about 20$

Journey's in Citadell Mall have them for about $35. I picked up my no-name Chuck look alikes at Wal-Mart for $10.

I got my Chucks at a local downtown shoe store - US$34.95..
Then I got a backup no-name pair at Walmart for US$11.95 when my Chucks are really stinking & I have to leave them out in the sun for a couple of days, b/c washing them in a machine breaks them down.. (I sweat even down into my shoes.. :swear: )

that's insane.

can't you just order them from some US retailer online, and pay a few bucks for extra shipping?

I actually picked up a pair of these after reading this. I generally lift bare foot, but my feet over-supinate like a mofo, so having a grippy shoe helps to keep me from rolling my foot while squatting.
I can pretty safely say that I prefer them to every pair of chucks I ever had, although I don't know exactly how they compare in terms of lifting (the chucks were in my pre-lifting days). They are a little sturdier than chucks, and they even have a little arch support, which is a plus to me. Good call Will.

JC Penny (http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?DeptID=9452&CatID=28864&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=0eff987&ProdSeq=12&Cat=basketball&Dep=&PCat=&PCatID=28755&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=14&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=CategoryAll.aspx&RefCatID=28755&RefDeptID=9452&Page=2&CmCatId=9452|28755|28864)

$35 or even less ($28) with a coupon code ("canaleaf") for Canadians, same code might work for Americans(?). Just be sure not to order the children's chucks on other JC Penny pages.... These are the cheapest I can find that will deliver to Canada, with a really good/low delivery charge.

I love my Chucks in and out of the gym.

sadly you'll pay probably $30+ to ship, plus duty taxes..so probably another $15.

still cheaper than $200, but not if he already found cheap boxing shoes.

I've been wearing them since I was 10...and there's just something different about chucks, something organic and very basic. For the first few weeks they seem like every other shoe out there, as the months go by they really form to your feet, after 6 months or so you give up on socks and around a year you find yourself wearing them all the time for no reason... they just feel different.

For lifting they are great because they are flat, have a GREAT grip and you can "feel" the floor through them. (part of the reason so many drummers love them) They suck like nothing else for running, jogging or any cardio though, I always have a good pair of runners around!

No problem man, like I said in the response above, give them a few weeks or a couple of months and you'll love them
