Is it a must to have creatine/dextrose post-workout?
I usually just have a protein shake before/during my workout.

Just reduce the amounts of stuff in the shake to accomodate your caloric needs.

LOL..... Too funny.....

16 oz 1% milk
2 scoops of mixed Berry whey protein powder
1 average scoop of REAL strawberry icecream
1-2 cups of frozen mixed berries (blue, rasp, black, straw)
1-2 cups of FRESH mixed berries (blue, rasp, black, straw)

I vary the berries (depending on thickness desired (use more frozen for thicker smoothie like) or fresh for thinner shake)...

The only problem is the kids always want most of it after I make it.....LOL.. Little buggers....

Peace out...

Hahahahaha. It takes me a few sittings to get through that, but its great on my days off work to just grab a giant jug and drink it. I've gone through a whole one only once while watching a movie, then I decided I needed a nap...

A lot of these shakes have fruit...does that mean you do or don't take them post-workout, because I thought that the sugars in fresh fruit were bad for post-workout due to the conversion process?

Thanks.

Fructose can still be used to fill liver glycogen. If you want to spike your insulin PWO then just add some dex or sub it in for the fruit.

Yeh, my 'berry' shake as the kids call it is a mid day, just for more protein shake.. Its not what I use PWO.....

I'd love to try how everyone is talking about the vanilla/orange shakes.... I love those old fashioned creamsicles....YUMMY.....LOL...

peace out...

Thist broke me from my 220-230lb weight plateau.

2 cups milk 2%
2 tbsp natty pb
2 tbsp olive oil
1 scoop whey
1 scoop weight gainer
1 banana
1/4 cup blueberries
2 handfulls of ice

Not sure of the nutritional facts on blueberries, but everything else is...

1200cal
48g fat
61.5g protein
51g carbs

Tastes damn good. The trick is to blend everything up, THEN add the powders and put the ice on top of that, and only blend long enough for the powders to get mixed in. Comes out like a THICK chocolate/pb milkshake with a bit of banana/blueberry twist to it, tastes awesome.

Always use shakes as an addition to whole foods to bulk or else your stomach won't be able to stretch enough for high calorie whole food servings.

2 cups of milk
1 cup of oats
2 Tablespoons of olive oil (EFAs)
1 large Banana
9 ounces of fresh strawberries
1 cup (140 grams) of organic blueberries
2 ounces of ground up almonds (EFAs - will make the shake a little thicker)

Put all the liquid ingredients into the blender first and then do the following:

For the almonds and oats: Take the oats and put them into a coffee grinder and grind the oats into a powder. Then pour into the blender. For the almonds, it'll take a bit longer to grind. When they are done, the almonds will have the same consistency as brown sugar. Then add that to the blender and hit "Chop" for about a minute and then "Liquify" for another couple minutes until the shake is very smooth...and enjoy!

And here it comes...the nutrition facts:

40 ounce shake (it's huge)

1429 Calories
43 grams of Protein
159 grams of Carbs
69 grams of FatI drink one of these every day. I'm about to go make one.
