View Full Version : Are baked potatoes a no no?
I try to stick with brown rice as much as I can but sometimes I feel the need to mix it up and have a baked potato with my dinner. I eat the potato skin and all and feel like it's good and healthy for me (I top it with some Smart Balance + salt + pepper). Is this ok or should I cut it out of my diet all together (especially considering I'm working on getting my bf% down)?

Potatoes are just fine. They're less processed than brown rice and (depending on preparation method) low GL.

The difference is that I put nothing on top of them. Good carbs, clean.

They are fine as long as they fit into your macro requirements for the day. The only thing that I would say is a big no-no is transfat.

Actually russet potatoes have a relatively high GI (85/100):

I use them for my first meal after a PWO shake.

Try buying Canadian (http://ziag4.mmb.usyd.edu.au/FMPro?-DB=GIDB2.fp5&-lay=TableView&-Format=detailsV4.htm&FoodID=F1034&-Find) ones.
