I checked Walmart today (they usually have everything) and I could only find Splenda. What are some brand names of it?

They have it at Bulk Barn. It may be labelled as Corn Sugar.

There are three main sources of the mighty dextrose in Canada.

The Bulk Barn which many of us know and love, where we use Viking size stainless steele scoops to heft the dex into the abundant tear away bags.

The Wine Making store where you must invent grand tales of the fine liquids you pretend to produce.

The Beer Making store where the man behind the counter may or may not care that you will only be buying the stuff he makes no money on and really don't have any other use for his establisment.

I guess mixing Splenda with a shake would be a bad idea then?

Order from Jordan's link, or something like it. You want dextrose or a maltodextrin/dextrose mixture for your PWO shakes.

I spent like 23 dollars on 11 pounds of dex(think it was 11 pounds) from suppdirect and this was almost 2 months ago; still got more than half the bag left. So just buy some and start usuing

Haha, if you order the 50lb bag, you might lose some through shipping! WTF

In all seriousness, buy from there or search on google.

Especially considering how easy it is to find dextrose. Splenda won't provide any of the benefits of dex and malto.

and it'll be sweeter than you can drink as sucralose is sweeter than table sugar or dextrose.

check yellow pages for home brew stores. they always carry dextrose (aka corn sugar) because its used in primary fermentation as well as the bottling process for beer.
i get mine from teh local brew shop for $4 a 5pound bag.

My guess is that if you don't understand the difference between dextrose and splenda, you probably don't need to add dextrose to anything. Learn some good basic eating habits before you start tweaking the details.

No kidding.

Try Popeyes (if you have them in your area)

The DIY wine stores. I've got a Popeye's and Home Brew store side by side. The Home Brew sees "us" types all the time. He knows what's going on. :)

The absence of a beer gut must be a dead giveaway.
