Alright this is my first post here because I've been trying to gain more Muscle Mass and weight and can't so I wanted to see if I could get a little informed help.

For a little background: I'm a 17 yr old white male. I'm about 6'3 in height and weigh about 172 -176 on a good day lol. (A little under-weight, I think?). Anyways I've been working out for about 3-4 years now and have gained muscle tone and definition but about 5 months ago I felt like I couldn't get any bigger so I invested in "Cyto-Gainer".. I drank the recomended 2-3 shakes every day. One before a work out and one 30-45 mins after my work out. I followed this regiment for about two months and here I am.. havent gained more than a pound!! and I work out every 2 days, and push as much weight as possible from 6-8 reps, 2-3 sets....

Now don't get me wrong, even though my build looks small, Im extremely toned an cut and I can also lift allot of weight. My bench is like 195 Max and I can butterfly about 120 on the cable machines... But my pex dont get any bigger! I see some guys in there benchin 150 and butterflying like 75 and gaining mass like crazy and arent even on any performance enhancers. I don't understand what's going on?! Some one said to me though that I have a boxers build, Im light weight but can pack a punch like crazy... Is that all there is to it? My body type just cant get any bigger but I will get stronger? Please let me know whats going on!!

You sound about like my brother in law except taller. He dont eat very much even though he claims he does.. Are you tracking ur calories at fitday.com ??

If not try that and make sure you are getting alot of calories and lots of protein.

Yes, your body type can get bigger. Anybody at your weight and height could get bigger. You just need to eat more bro. Honestly, that's basically it. Lift consistantly and intensely, sleep, and eat a lot more food than you're eating now.

My eating regiment is as follows..The cyto gainer is 800 calories a serving...52 grams of protien...106grams of complex carbs per serving and all the essential vitamins. On a regular basis I eat 6 meals a deay..Oatmeals for breakfast..three packets..pasta for lunch and chicken for dinner with fruit snacks inbetween...Someone suggested my metabolic rate is to high as well?

I know it's a pain in the ass, but ... are you tracking your calories?

Because I guarantee you, if you eat MORE than you eat now, and by more than you eat now, I mean if you actually increase your daily calories, you'll gain.

BUT ... you HAVE to consistently KNOW how much you're eating.

Do you?

What are you eating? Those can be empty cals. Add some red meat, whole eggs. What does your cals break down to as far as fats, protein, and carbs. Sure Cytogainer is good, only as a supp and not a replacement for whole foods.

You might aswell go to fitday.com and sign up i know it will seem like a pain at first but after a week it becomes second nature.. You can think you are eating more then you really are only way to know is track it.

09-18-2006, 11:24 PM
Haha a disease in your blood or something? Are you serious?

Dude, if i eat 3,000 calories a day i won't gain a pound. What makes you think you will? I need about 4,000 a day to gain. Maybe you do too.

Start tracking your calories on fitday.com. It's the only way you'll know if you're eating enough or not.

My buddy is like 5' 6" and weighs 170 and has to eat over 6000 cals to gain any weight. 3000 is not that much for some people.

More fats. Easy calories.

What sucks, though, is that fats make me less hungry so it's harder to eat more of them :P Life isn't fair, lol.

Teaturtle, I'm having a hard time getting a read on you. Are you trying to gain right now? Because bulking means you eat when you're NOT hungry. You just need room in your stomach to shove in more food.

Hence the fats.

3000 calories is nothing. The answer to your question -- which I could have provided you from the title of your thread alone -- is that you need to eat more.

Yes, it is that simple.

Let's see...your 17 and 6'3".

I'm 31 and 6'5". Today, I've had 1.5kg of yogurt, 3 litres of skim milk, 8 hotdogs (:drooling: ), four instant oatmeal packs, 3 protein shakes, 2 eggs, a chicken salad wrap (Tim Horton's), some salad with dressing, and some cheese. edit: and some pickles. How can I forget the pickles?!?

And it's only 6:30pm.

My point?

I'm an old dude with a metablic rate that's slowing down. I have to eat lots to keep my weight where it is. Yeah, today was a bit dirty, but I have to have my hotdogs sometime! You're a young guy with a metabolism that would be a 'vette to my '69 beetle.

Eat more...WAY more.

Alright I went an sighned up at fit day and Im following up with what I ate today and how much fat, protien, an carbs were in my diet...

Overall I had: 3624 Calories today.
Fat: was 127 Grams and 1140 Calories for a total of 32%..
Carbs: was 453 Grams and 1685 Calories for a total of 47%
Proteins: was 194 Grams and 774 Calories for a total of 22%

And that was trying to eat...you guys were right..on an average I was probobly eating about closer to 2300-2500 calories a day and not this much..So I upped my intake by 1000 to start....Was that a wise decision?

YES!

Do that every day for two weeks, see what happens to your size and your gains!

If by some miracle you gain too fast and get a little gut, dial it back a bit.

You'll do it.

You figuring out how to get in the cals okay? You know about how to make weight gainer shakes for yourself yet?

3600 may do good, maybe too little, maybe too much. Only you can find out. Keep eatin 3600 a day and see where it takes you. Adjust according to the desired results.

I make pancakes and add a ton of olive oil, and then I just add vanilla extract to get rid of the nasty taste of olive oil. Its these crappy tricks that can help make you a fatty.

Rookie, try grinding oatmeal in the blender, keep it as a powder to add to shakes.

Blend whey, milk, oat powder, natural peanut butter and or olive oil, and dextrose. Toss in ice cream if you like.

Voila - weight gainer.

Iuno, to be honest...Ive never drank it lmao...Ya know?
All this is just very weird to me haha.. I could get a better source of protien an callories from some of the recipies im reading than my weight gainer shake..and its LESS expensive...wtf haha

You have a lot of learning to do. Olive Oil = Essential Fatty Acids. You need healthy fats in your diet. EFAs come from olive oil, fatty fish, nuts, avocados, natural peanut butter, etc...

And you don't drink olive oil all by itself (some people do, but that's gross). You mix it in shakes or you cook with it.

I could get a better source of protien an callories from some of the recipies im reading than my weight gainer shake..and its LESS expensive...wtf hahaWhich is why it's better to make them at home.

hey man, no-one walks up to you in the gym and says "here try this olive oil" lmao..I mean, seriously...

I had to learn it sooner or later..glad it was now haha...Ima go out an buy like 3 jars of PB, two bottles of olive oil, and 2 bottles of hershys syrup..add some milk an whey poweder an see where it lands me in 3 weeks

It's great that you ate a lot of veggies, but they are filling and do not provide a lot of calories for your bulk. You are struggling to get calories in so I would have just eated 1 c of veggies and eaten something more calorie dense.

I am 5 8 and 31. I have to eat around 4000 calories to put on weight. You just have a high metabolism, maybe it will slow down for you.
