ive decided to just eat as much as possible for fall/winter... i guess you can say it is a mid-dirty bulk as ive decided to eat pretty much anything except junk food (chocolate bars, desserts, chips, etc)...

through searching and reading, ive got the impression that bulking should help one gain muscle quicker?

ive read different lengths but what is an average length of weeks for a good bulk? and then how long should the cut be? im trying to decide how long before alternating.... personally, i was thinking of the seasons... so bulk fall/winter and cut spring/summer

all input welcome

thanks!

and since it is not going to be a perfectly "clean bulk" i am prepared and know some fat and maybe even a lil gut will persist but i am willing to have that temporarily to gain the muscle and then lose the fat during my cut :)

It all depends on your goals. If you want to bulk up 20 lbs., you're done with bulking when you gain 20 lbs. Then after if you want to get to 8% BF, you're done cutting when you get to 8%. Now if you gave us what exactly your goals are maybe we could give you a very rough estimate of how long it will take, but it still will vary depending on the person.

i want to bulk up to 180 (increase of about 6 pounds) by the end of the year and then long term i wanna get up to 190.... all with around 10% bf through cutting

An increase of 6 pounds is not a lot. Most guys will bulk from lets say 165 to 190-195. Once *they've* reached that goal, maintain for a few days, and cut down to a relatively low bf 10-12%. There's no right answer to your question. It's personal preference.

Generally a pound a week is seen as a happy medium between over doing it and keeping clean.

So 30 weeks = ~7 months

Since you'll be eating anything in sight you could probably gain 16 pounds in 3 months. That would be a gain of 1.25 lbs. per week. After that you could go on a cut phase for 5 weeks and lose 5-6 lbs. This would put at about 184-185 by very early February at a pretty decent bodyfat.

After this I would keep my bulking clean and to a duration of no more than six weeks. You may be able to reach about 190 during the summer at 10-12% bodyfat.

6 pounds is not a bulk really, thats just gaining a bit of weight.

I have gained 10 pounds in under 8 weeks, and my goal is 20lbs.... as long as it takes, 4 months, 6 months...... whatever foods it takes... either way i will be lifting like a gaddam psychopath, and either way i'm making it to 200lbs

Hell if you drink more water you will probably gain 4 out of 6 of those lbs. Go with bigger #s. 15 lbs at least.

what if you wanted to trade in the fat for muscles? woiuld it just be easier to bulk first then cut or is there another easier way to go without putting on the extra fat?

^I ask that because i'm 16/female and 140 lbs so 10-20 lbs would be a huge difference on me, good or not I dunno.

Or you could cut first, then bulk. It all depends on your goals.
