I am taing 8 fish oil caps at night. Does it matter if I split it up during the day or is it the same difference taking them all in one shot at night?

I don't think it matters, but I trickle them in through the day, buried with food (I take 'em before meals) to avoid those oh-so-pleasant fish-burps.

Thats exactly what I was trying to avoid by doing them all at night haha

what brand do you guys take?..

i heard the better the brand the better the quality of the capsules, so the less disgusting your fish burps are.

i been taking nature made fish oil capsules for more than 2 years and never get fish burps. if you eat it properly with food as well... i think it minimizes the chance of burping fish too..

but thats just me...

I am using Origin fish oil caps. I am just hoping taking them all in one shot is the same purpose as taking them all day

I'd be inclined to agree with Built--and 8g seems a bit on the higher side of dosing. "More" definitely doesn't equal "better" when it comes to EPA/DHA supplementation. 6g/day will do you fine, 2g each dosage, after each meal. According to the animal studies (if you want to believe them), EPA/DHA work best in the "FED state".

I take 10g daily. 8g doesn't sound high to me.

Very interesting to know about the "fed state" and EPA/DHA!

I tend to stick with 6g as my "upper limit" sometimes intaking 4g/day. From what I've seen, prolonged high-dose fish oil can impair insulin sensitivity to a certain degree, and overall just isn't that great of an idea. 10g and above dosages appear to only benefit extremely obese individuals (much like CLA) from the literature I've seen. Then you also have to consider how much EPA/DHA you get out of your typical daily diet... sigh... it's just one big puzzle, isn't it?

It is a bit of a puzzle.

My reasons for taking as much fish oil as I do are posted up in issue 1 of "Get Built". I hadn't read about prolonged fish oil imparing insulin sensitivity. My own insulin resistance was what prompted me to start taking it in the first place - I got off Metformin about five years ago. You got a link to something that suggests fish oil makes insulin sensitivity worse rather than better?

I'm looking for the exact place I read this as we speak. If you go over to forum.bodybuilding.com and do an advanced search on the user "Phosphate bond" for something like "fish insulin" you'll see a lot of interesting data.

I take 2 caps with every meal except post workout, so 10 caps a day.

If you get the 'enteric coated' caps, you will not get fishy burps.

This is the stuff I've been taking, lately. It's enterically coated so you don't belch it up. It's also got higher ratios of DHA/EPA so you don't have to take so many caps.

That's weird. When I posted the link yesterday it went right to the brand. Anyway, it's Arctic Oil, under the essential fatty acid link, under products.
