Breaking news here. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060927/hl_nm/testosterone_dc) watch out fellas, lol.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA and now I have to explain it!
It just gets funnier and funnier!
(now you see, if you didn't have so much test, you might understand it ... )

Anyone found where this study is published?
edit: I guess this is it:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=16803879&query_hl=3&itool=pubmed_docsum
The study is invitro. It's hard to establish the validity of this study, It hasn't been repeated or corroborated, it's in a closed system, and there are no animal models. The truth is that our bodies are a lot more complex and a cell in a petri dish with testosterone thrown at them doesn't really tell you much. Can testosterone even have access to your brain? If so, at what levels does it end up in up there? Once there, are there other factors that counteract this apoptotic effect? Without more info, this study is useless

René, you were doing SO well. I particularly enjoyed the word "apoptotic" - actually had to look that one up, "cell death", nice ...
Then your testosterone must have kicked in:
Without more info, this study is useful.

LOL...yeah, I meant isn't useful or it's useless. LOL. Test is teh BRAIN KILLER.
I stand by what I said...the study is in a closed sytem and doesn't really tell us much other than "you throw a lot of test at neurons in a petri dish and they die". They said it has to be micro molar concentrations for this to take into effect. If I'm not mistaken, even on gear the concentrations in our body niver get that high.

It doesn't take a big brain to look good or lift heavy weight, studies like this probably won't change anyones view on it expect those who don't care to take them in the first place.
lol, hey that's a typo...shut it lady!
and to verify...MW of test is 288.43 so 1 mole of test is = to 288.43 g/L. The normal amount of test is 1000 ng/deciliter.
If test hasn't damaged my brain cells too much then the amount of test in that petri dish for that study is way way way way way way over anything our bodies would ever see. They're not using biologically relevant concentrations.

the problem is that the study sucks and used way over the amount even ronnie sees in a hypodermic needle.

100 ng/dl
and that's free test. most of the test in our bodies is bound to SHBG. Only about 2% of it is non bound so that's another parameter the study is avoiding. I love how the "news" article citing it jumps to wild conclusions and uses it to explain the myth of roid rage. Nice try guys...but nope.

Ignorance deserves a Mighty Thor sledgehammer to the face. I'm glad there are members like you on here to make sense of all this. I wasn't going to buy into their study until I read more feedback from the educated folk on here. I'll never run a cycle as long as I live, but I am sure as hell not going to have a close-minded ignorant view of the matter. So thanks for always clearing these kinds of things up.

Isn't that like the very upper limit of normal? I thought the normal range was 300-1000 ng/dL.

yep...it's 300-1000. I used the upper limit because even at the upper limit the values they used are so much higher.

Don't you just love criticizing people's research? This is why you need to be doing research, or writing reviews...or just writing a letter to this lady and telling her how inaccurate her conclusions are based on her f'ed up research. ;)
Personally, I think you should do the latter. In fact, call her. I hear tell that kind of thing can be cathartic. :D

If you're using words like cathartic, you're clearly not getting enough test. I suggest you got bad gear or need to increase your dose. :p

Test may kill brain cells, but it's good for stroke prevention. See study synopsis: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2729457.stm
They found that men who shaved less frequently experienced more strokes. Less shaving due to ? less facial hair due to ? less testosterone = ? increased risk of stroke.

I hate those mother****ers who come out with this ****ing bull**** data and try to use it to argue that testosterone is somehow responsible for roid rage. It's not the ****ing testosterone, ok? We're all pretty ****ing well adjusted, I hate these damn scientist know it all mother****ers. ****ing kill them all.

Whats the bet that the author is/has:
Overweight or horribly out of shape
No understanding whatsoever of bodybuilding
No idea about the use of steroids (i.e. how much you would use, PCT etc)
This type of test-tube in vitro experiment doesn't prove a whole lot.

so that means steroids are actually turning people into ogres per say and reversing the evolutionary process in a way.
