Hiya, i'm a poor student ;) Was skimming through Sainsburys products other day, found a massive bag of chicken portions for some cheap ass price. Only thing is that the Protein:Fat ratio is 1:1. I heard that striations of fat only occur in the top 3 inches of muscle, so - If i remove the skin, can i substantially reduce the amount of fat?

Yeah, removing the skin will definately reduce the amount of fat. For a student budget, it's tough to beat buying a whole chicken. It takes about 2 hours to raost and absoloutely no culinary skills are required.. You can get a LOT of meat off of those birds. I measure it in cups and put in fitday - about 1 cup is equal to a chicken breast.
