Actually, the 315 looked just slightly above parallel, but that's splitting hairs. Still nice weight, man.

Strong as usual. Lol, god damn I'm so far from squatting that much.

I think you may have just reached parallel, but either way... wow. A 315 lb front squat is ridiculous. There's no way in hell I could hold that kind of weight up on my delts, let alone squat it. I'm years away from doing anyting like that. You're truly a beast man.

Very impressive! I'm with Tofer... front squats hurt my delts too much. :(

The angle kind of sucks to judge depth but I think you're pretty damn close to parallel.

I've never seen partial squats done like that before... I've always done them starting with the bar on the rack and squatting down about 1/4 of the way then back up without touching the guards.

thanks tommy!

next time maybe ill do partials from the back, last time i did them i stopped at 705, i can prob bang out 765 easy, my lockout strength on both partial squats and deads is great but for some reason on full deads i cant lockout for crap

Awesome work. You should try using a clean grip on your warm-ups before you switch to what we O-lifters call "bodybuilding style", you'll see it's actually a lot more comfortable once you can do it and you can actually use more weight with practice. Keep up the good work

dino thanks man but i cant get my elbows back! my flexi is so poor or i would be doing olympic training as we speak! i would kill to be able to do a overhead squat, id deff 20 rep those, haha OMG!!

Dinosaur

Take your first warm-up weight and just hold it in the clean position and let it sit there for a bit, getting a good stretch. That helps the wrists get the feel for the stretch, it'll be painful at first but you'll quickly get some flexibility there.

As for overheads: Take an empty bar or broomstick over your head, hold it in a snatch grip position, then slowly push back. That'll give you a good stretch right there. If you have any experience with behind the neck push jerks, that's where the bar should be too. It should be a little bit back and not right above you. Overhead squats are awesome.

the thing is when i try to squat down with overheads my arms fall even with a broom and my back feels like its snapping lol. but i will try the clean suggestion

Overhead squats are very difficult, especially for when you first start doing them. That's why I was a bit dubious about some of the people from the challenge who've never tried them doing over 200 the first time. Try overhead box squats, that can help a lot actually. Practice with the broom and just work a lot on form. They are invaluable once you get them right.

Oh yeah, and go ATG once you can :D

Take it slow and progress with it. Box, then without one, then slowly work your way down. Once you can do a good bit properly with just a broomstick, work on using a barbell and keep kicking ass from there. A cool goal I read a while ago from Dan John (http://www.danjohn.org) who is a big fan of overhead squats as well is to shoot for doing your bodyweight for 15 reps.

very cool man i will look into it, can you picture doing 20 rep breathing overhead squats, i think that would be the most excruciating exersize ever, maybe impossible!

Hey don't get me wrong! I wasn't trying to belittle his achievement!! Just pointing it out and I guess wondering why one would do them like that instead of how I mentionned. I guess you could practice with more weight because you don't have to decelerate the weight before you push up.

What was the actual weight? 545, 575 and 600 are all being thrown around in here?

Just watched the vid................simply inspirational........better form than most people do with less than half that weight! I feel so week now...lol

You are a true bodybuilder...congrats man!!:strong:

I know how hard front squats are and thats why hardly anybody in gyms attempts them never mind with 3 big wheels per side.

Keep us all posted on future progress!

Ok, now it worked! WOW! You are ridiculously strong on that lift! You obviously do have a sweet spot to hold the load as you the partials prove. Good work and you should consider getting an Olympic lifting coach as I suspect you could do very well in the sport.

I can't even imagine having 600 pounds in a regular squat position on my traps........

Your freakish strength always amazes me, considering your age. Awsome man!

Stumprrp
10-11-2006, 07:37 PM
tahnks Invain yeah 705 on my traps was pretty damn gay doing the same squats cept on the back, i love these partials and they help me alot, along with strengthing your joints and helping your body get used to heavy weight.

sensi thanks but i still cant see how they werent parallel, my ass is literally pointing down, lol.

Sensei
10-27-2006, 05:50 AM
Parallel is when the crease at the hip is level w. the top of the knee - it is not determined by knee flexion. It's possible to be sitting on the floor seiza and still not be parallel.

thx HB im just never happy with anything, my physique, strength, nothing lol, knowing there is someone better then me @ 17 yrs old pisses me off and makes me train heavyer.

i need to stop lookin in the mirror at my stomach and pinching fat, if i want to be a successful powerlifter/strongman i need to man up and bulk up more! but, i will get more depressed then i am now and go on a half arse cut.

so the verdict is i gotta cut to at least 15% and then bulk up once again.
