we got the bench contest at my school coming up on monday, so me and my partner did a test run today to see where we are at

went through my warm ups

135x10,225x4,275x2,315x1 (btw how did that look?, I wasn't to sure what to do)

I then went for 335, and it FLEW up, i prolly could have gotten 2

I then put 350 on, and got it up real fast and smooth, to the very tippy top, but could not lock at that last inch and a half, I was soo pissed

anywho, still went not to bad, i am still gon go for 350 next week

I did however set a pr afterwards on incline db press, did 100x8 on like my 8th or so working set of the day

question, I want to try and drop to under 200, so I can be in the next weight class down, and I am right now about 205, what should I do

the past few days I figured out what I have been eating about, which I think my maintnance is around 3000 calories, about

what should I do to try and drop a quick 5 lbs by monday, but not lose any str in the process?

very impressive im jealous! lol quick 5 lbs basically cut a lil carbs out and do some cardio 5 lbs is nothing thats water

You have to be careful on cutting carbs when strength is concerened.
I found the easiest way to keep strength and drop up to 8lbs is cut your liquids out the evening before. Because within 2 hours you can get the liquids back into your body(after weighin) but getting the carbs in your body and waiting for them to digest takes much longer.
BTW good job on the benching!

yea, im sad now however

i hurt my shoulder playing football yesterday, so i took off shoulders today, so hopefull I will be able to bench come monday ><

Very nice man, work that lockout though. I dont know why people tend to have trouble with the lockout I can lockout tooooooooooooons more weight than I can full press.

A 350lb raw bench at 200lbs is doing pretty good. No he's not being sarcastic. In a shirt, yes, he benches more but not raw.

Good luck, emjlr3. I couldn't bench 350 until I weighed over 215lbs.

He benches 385 in a shirt, 280 raw.

I think my shoulder is feeling better......hopefully

doing the bench motion does not hurt so that is good

today I am at 204.5, just some more hlep with this, again I am going to try and get to 199.9 for the lift day, and its bad cuz right after you weigh in I think I will be doing the lift :(

anywho, so i am going to drop my calories from 3000 to about 2250 for today until monday, and lay off liquids the day before, and carbs when I can, how is that??

also, for my sets to work up to it

as for the lockout, I am thinking maybe it was a fluke, because the weight really flew up from rest on my chest, and I was like, yea this is pie I got this, and the last inch and a half its just kinda stopped, we'll see

IMO you have too many heavy sets in there.
What I'd do is:

If you have 3 attempts though:
1st. 340
2nd. 350-355 depending on how 340 felt
3rd. Go all out, 370??

so I was hoping to be able to do it this morning at W.T. class, but they said they were doing it from 4-6

i weighed in at 200.2 this morning with pants and shirt on

i am going with my partner at 4 to do the actual lift, hopefully I will weigh under 200, or they will take my word for it or something ^^
