after not been on gear for a couple of years my body decided to produce a decent (noticable) amount of gyno - I have no idea why this is as Im not on gear anymore and it decided to spring up like 2 years after my last cycle. I went to the doc and he told me my extra protein intake was to blame - he said the estrogen was a product of the strain i was putting on my liver etc... and I think he may have a point, the more protein i take in the extra itchyness and irritation i feel around the nipples! whats everyones elses thoughts about this??? I dont have access to nova anymore but have 6 oxo and that stops the itches pretty rapidily.

I've never heard of that before. And you DO have access to Nolva - check out the research sites at the top of this forum. You can get it in liquid form no probs at all.

I know that soy protein increases your estrogen levels.
i've heard it all now. why don't you ask your doc to explain how a strained liver produces estrogen. i'd love to hear his explanation for that one.

Alcoholics with liver cirrhosis can develop estrogen-related side effects, since the liver metabolizes estrogen.
Developing gyno from protein intake is a huge stretch... that would never happen.

Men can have spontaneous gyno. As to whats the causes, it can be myriad. I had itchy nipples as a teen before I even knew what roids were really. Doc said see what happened, it went away. Later on in life, when not on a cycle, my nips are sore and I have a small lump. Order some research nolva, but I'd be going to an endo as quick as I could get a referral. Likely they'd script you Nolva or Arimidex if you had high estradiol, possibly your test would be low enough to warrant HRT too. At the least you'd get Nolva or the sort on your insurance eh?

I know that soy protein increases your estrogen levels.

"Soy is also rich in estrogenic compounds such as genistein and diadzein, however, research is conflicing as to whether or not it can cause increases in estrogen in men.[16]"·
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soy_protein
"Studies found that soy could become "pro-estrogen" in women with low levels of natural estrogen. In other words, concentrated soy supplements may add estrogen to the body and hence increase breast cancer risk in post-menopausal women. Therefore, post-menopausal women should avoid taking concentrated soy supplements until more is known. Eating soy products, however, is not harmful."

I knew those things, but fail to see how those support "soy protein increases your estrogen levels".
The first link you posted doesn't say that it causes estrogen levels to rise.
The second link was in regard to concentrated soy supplements (likely meaning concentrated phytogestrogens, which isn't the same thing as soy protein).

If there's anything conclusive i'd dump all my soy now, but the last time i checked i couldn't find anything showing an increase in a man's estrogen levels from soy protein.
