And now my knees are killin me, I hit 675 today.

I stalled out at the bottom then yelled and pushed it out, hit parallel but didnt attempt to go any lower.

Its been a few hours and my knees are still hurtin, anything to worry about?

Felt amazing to get it though.

Holy crap, excellent lift.

Where's the pain?

This means Jinkies is squatting on par with most of the national powerlifting records set by HS students, so if he gets on a suit and wraps he'll easily destroy them. Can't say I'm not skeptical without seeing video, no offense to Jinkies but those are some impressive lifts and you're going to have a lot of doubters until you prove them wrong. If those really are your lifts, you'd best get into powerlifting as you would storm the competition right now.

EDIT: I actually thought he was a 275+, not around 240 like he's said before. In that case, he's squatting more in the gym than some of these guys are in competitions....

The pain is mostly on the sides of my knee, I think it was from almost bottoming out.
Im in powerlifting but it doesn't start till March so im hoping to put up a little over 700 by then, if I can hit 800 by senior year ill probably win nationals. I'd like to start competiting in a different fed but I have no one to guide me; I just go to as many gyms as I can and squat heavy and hope someone will notice me. I honestly was going to take a video of the 675, I had just gotten a video phone but I had never put that much on my back and to be honestly didnt think I'd get it. Now i feel stupid for not trying to film it.

If you're still at about 240 right now, you just broke USAPL's national HS record (freshman/sophomore) by about 120 pounds and the varsity record by almost 25. These are suited lifts too. You also beat Teen 16-17 by over 40 pounds and are 9 pounds under Teen 18-19. Get a good enough suit and you'll be really close to the Open of 830+. This is why I'm being a bit skeptical.

As of now im in the 275, until I learn how to properly diet down and maintain my strength

Dinosaur
10-22-2006, 01:04 PM
Suited, you'd still be squatting more than all of the national records above except the Open. Most of them are high 6's and low 7's. Wouldn't take you long to get Open either, it's about 950 but a good suit and wraps can add a lot of lift.

dude get a video of you doing like 500 parallel and a lot of people well get off your ass about it... if you can lift that much that is. 500 should be no prob right?

500 would be disgustingly easy for him if he can do 675 (which, coincidentally, is seven 45's on each side exactly). If he does 585, that'll be six on each side, so I'd say toss on an extra 10 and make it 605. That'll be easy for him.

605= cake.

I can get a parallel video of that easy.

that is pretty damned sick

the pler at my gym ive seen do 495x4 or so, parrallel, and I thought that was sick

the other best I saw was from a hs senior that comes to the gym sometimes, and he hit 405x6 or so, at about 80 degrees, I thought that was pretty bad ass too, but never something like 600+

Turns out the scale I was using was giving me false measurements, the calibration was off.

I usually fluctate between 278-285 as of now, due to carb cutting I might be sitting a few pounds lower.

You have some world class strength man, these videos would not only shut people up from around here but once some of this big D1 colleges start fighting over you then you would have some material to show them.

Gosh, I'd sure love to see a video of a 16-17 yr old squatting 675 without a suit.

:lurk:

Seriously, please post this as soon as is humanly possible. Or even 605 as some others mentioned.

When is the next squat day Jinkies? I want to be sure I don't miss this video.

I didn't get a 605, my friend called me right as I lifted the weight off the bar so it didn't film it.

I had to up the weight, not since in ruining my workout for yalls amusement so I got a 655x1. Due to the poor angle my and jackass friend it looks really iffy on the parallel, without a doubt you can see the weight is legit and you can see how easily I lift it off and move back.

I hadn't squatted in about 10 days so my form was sloppy, it wasnt as smooth as possible so I WILL be reposting a much smoother one soon. I think I barely nipped the parallel but with heavy weight and no belt I didnt want to stress to much. Check video section in about 5 minutes and it should be up

That vidio wasn't iffy. It shows you are big and strong, and can walk out a big weight. It was not a squat. Anyone telling you otherwise is doing you a disservice.

You have huge potential. Take a minute and learn the proper performance of the lifts, even if you have to check your ego at the door. This is a LONG process... think about where you want to be at 21, not where you want to be next week.

I'd also suggest, given your freakish potential, that you find some older/experienced powerlifters and train with them - even if it's just once in a while. I think with a little coaching, you could be making a name for yourself pretty quickly.

The numbers that count are the ones in sanctioned meets. Go do one. You'll do well.

After watching that squat video several times, its not close to parallel. I would reason though, that the most he would have to drop to get perfect to parallel would be 100 pounds and for 16 thats still damned strong.

One other thing, your hands are very wide... move them in some to keep your back tighter. It should help some.

Personally, I keep a wide grip when I am doing PL style squats. I only move my hands in for ATF or High Bar Olympic squats.
