Well, I caught the bug you guys! After the competition on the 14th I want more! Also I was sooo damn close to qualifying for nationals that I've decided I need to do another one and qualify!

The competition is November 25th. Soooo I've got until that date to bring my total up 40kg!

I did my first competition raw (except a belt). I just bought some knee wraps... With those and some work on my benching technique I should be able to make up the difference.

Here's what I'm thinking:

195kg / 430lbs deadlift Last comp --> 414lb
105kg / 232lbs bench Last comp -- > 209lbs (got 242 up but lifted my a$$)
170kg / 375lbs squat Last comp --> 325lbs

Those numbers would give me exactly as much as I need to qualify. Anything above that is gravy! Then I have until May (not sure on that one) to get into the rest of the gear (squat suit, bench shirt, etc.).

I know it's pretty soon but it's the closest competition to home... When you're a poor student like me that means alot!

Wish me luck!

And also wish him that his girlfriend can get off work so she can DRIVE him to this competition.

That will make it even cheaper for the poor student *pats*

Thsoe goals seem fairly realistic. The prior meet experience will help you do better the second time. Just be sure to not overdo it the 2 weeks before the meet. You probably won't get any stronger but you can definitely LOSE strength.

You're damned strong.. i remember reading your journal when you and I were kinda at the same level.. now you're just so far ahead it's not funny any more!

Good luck!

Not to steel the thread, but why not work out hard the 2 weeks befor? I just got back into lifting after takeing a while off. Been hitting it pretty good now for 6wks. Was doing 2x8 workouts and now going to switch to 5x5 for 4wks then was going to go 1x6s for the next two weeks, wich will bring me to my compitition also on the 25th. My lifts are still gaining, looking to bench 300 raw, curl 140 and do as much as I can on the deadlift all raw. Still not released for my foot. I'm right inbetween the two wieght classes of 148 and 165. I don't think I'll worry about cutting to get their, just be under weight.

2 weeks before a meet is generally a time to rest up and NOT get yourself hurt. Volume should be down and you really shouldn't do anything heavier than an opener during the 2 weeks prior to a meet.

Yeah. What Drew said.

Your competition has curling? :confused:

I'm curious to know how one goes about finding a local competition (Or at least driving distance).

For once, google didn't have the answer.

Any advice there deeder?

And good luck in the competition. *Runs to gym*

Good luck Deeder.

Chris686,

NASA has curl competitions called powersports and Pro-powersports. In the Pro-powesports, placings will go to 10th Place and the Best Curl, Bench Press, Deadlift and Total will EACH win $1,000.00, 2nd-$750, 3rd-500 all the way to 10th Place, in EACH lift.
The Top 5 Over All Best Lifters will win $200, $175, $150, $125, $100.

No Weight Classes and EVERYTHING is based on Coefficients on each lift for individual lifts and Total Coeff for the Total Awards. So everyone has an equal chance to win in each lift.

All Award Money will be held in a special escrow account that is already set up. The first All Star Pro Meet will be held in early 2008.

By year 2, the Individual Event Awards will be around $2,000.00 each for a win. Can you imagine doing a curl and getting $2,000.00?

This program will begin January 1st, 2007. Sign up early as you will be required to compete in 4 NASA meets per year once you sign up as a Pro Power Sports Lifter (PPSL). NO EXCEPTIONS. This is entirely independent of the Regular Power Sports portion of NASA. Pro-powersports begin in 2007 & lifters get paid a max of $1000.

That's cool, J.T. Is the competition curl a power curl or strict curl?

Will there be any comps in IL?

NASAKYCHAIRMAN

The competition is strict curl.

As far as locations, more detail will come soon.

Well, Kristen and I leave Friday after school for Winnipeg! We're only going to spend Friday night there (no going out on the town... I need my rest :cool: ) We're going to drive back Saturday evening after the competition.

If I can get the same kinds of numbers as I did last week I'll be 15kgs OVER what I need to qualify for nationals! My total at my first competition in October was 430kg and I'm hoping to hit 485kg this time. All I need is 470 to qualify so I think I'm a shoo-in! Woot!

If you're from Winnipeg come check it out and cheer me on! It's the 2nd annual 17th Wing Powerlifting and Bench Press competition. Lifting starts at 11am at 90 Whytewold Dr. (sp on the street name?)
