View Full Version : Bulking and unsure when to stop.

I'm currently bulking, trying to reach 180 by the end of the year. I'm currently at 172 and estimated 14.9% bf (calipers). At what body fat level should I begin to cut?
Also, how long should I eat at maintenance after 2 months of bulking before I begin a cut?

My best advice would be to look in the mirror, only you really can determine whether it's time to cut or not. People can hold weight/fat differently all down to genetics I reckon.
You could also post your current pic for some feedback

Whenever you think you are fat and are unhappy with adding any more fat. I would maintain for a week or two, then slowly start dropping cals.

I'm more concerned with being efficient. I know the more fat you have, the more fat you'll gain when bulking. So I'm wondering at what point it becomes more efficient to cut and then bulk again.

If your doing a clean controlled bulk then it doesn't matter.

When you have trouble breathing after you stuff yourself into your pants.

Been bulking 2 weeks and I'm averaging 1.5 lb/week. I think it will taper down to 1 lb/week b/c I had a 1-2 pound jump (water/glycogen).
Is 1-1.5 pounds/week a good rate?

I'm not sure if you can judge by the first two weeks because of the extra food you will always have in stomach, water retension etc. I've read alot of people saying they go up quite a few pounds quickly simply from changing calorie intake. Myself, for example, went from around 2.5-3k/day to 3.5k/day and put on about 2 lbs first week but its about .5 lbs a week now.
