****ING INSANE.

The guy's name is Kyle Gulledge, so maybe his brother is Dave Gulledge, the powerlifter that dieted down to become a monster.

Dang.. that's insane...
He might be the 1st american to give those Europeans Andy Bolton and Benedikt Magnusson a run for their money.. and he doesn't quite look like a SHW.. they may break 1000 first, but it looks like he has 1100 in him..

Lot's of people don't understand how weight gets heavy at say, 830 pounds.
They also advocate never lifting with your back.

Fools!

What kind of steroid testing do they have for powerlifting competitons? I am not accusing him of using steroids, because that would defeat the purpose of powerlifting in the first place, and would actually constitute as cheating, but is there any possible way he could be on steroids.

Pretty much any top level bodybuilders/powerlifters/strongmen do a **** ton of drugs. It aint as much cheating as it is considered 'normal.'

There are tested and non-tested federations. People who are on/off compete in both, lol. I have respect for all of them. I personally don't like those who are clearly on competing drug-free.

Kyle is a sick lifter and that pull is HUGE!

So what if he took steroids? It's a great lift anyways!

That's some insane lifting. He looks like he had more in him, too. With how much time that kid still has to develop and mature, he could easily be the first to pull 1,000.

I find it strange that the world record bench press broke 1000 lbs before the deadlift record did.

That is for two reasons mainly.

1) Bench Shirts add a ridiculous ammount of weight to your bench press

2) The grip is what holds people back on the Dead Lift at those weights. If they were allowed to use strap, we would have seen people break 1,000 a long time ago.

It's mostly #1. A good multi-ply bench shirt can add 300lbs to an elite level pressers bench. Deadlift suits might add 50lbs, at best.
