On November 30th my school has a Mr. RoundRock Pagent

Im going to compete in the talent catagory and im going to traditonal pull 610 on stage for the school. Ive never pulled that much but im going to talk to the coaches and ask if they will let me use their equipment; I figure with a belt and suit and wraps I can do it. I did 600 the other day raw. Im excited but Im naturally nervous; If I miss it I probably won't show my face around school.

Nice. Get someone to video tape it! Make sure you get your introduction in the video too... That will get rid of some of the disbelievers!

If it goes through im definately going to videotape it.

I have never done anything like this infront of a crowd. Does anyone got any advice for me to prep? The night before ima get 10 hours of sleep and eat so much spagetti.

i'd get some training in with the equipment ur going to be using... if not then i'd settle for something that u know u can pull, everyone will still be impressed.

Good luck man. Should be a good show. Like said above get some practise in on the equipment you're using so there aren't any surprises.

Im just worried about my hands holding up, last time I couldnt even pick it up the floor, my left hand kept losing its grip. I didn't think I was going to get in then I put it back down and moved my grip in 2 inches and nailed it.

thats cool jinkies i was thinking of something like this too but my school doesnt hold talent shows, lol. 600 is diesel, once again you out do me by 75 lbs on the deadlift lol.

If you hit 600 raw, then you shoudnt need all that gear for 10 pounds. Perhaps just do 600? Whos going to call you a wuss over 10 pounds lol.

I would. What kind of wuss can't lift 610... Geeze... I mean come on.. He's 16 isn't he?

Dude, I'd do 3 actual max outs.

One at like 580, one at 600, and one at 610 or higher depends.

My advice play the crowd... I've never competed but don't treat it as a normal work out, make it impressive line your self up and pull that son of a bitch like no ones business.

People call my 315 decent at 17, your doing double :) Jinkies 600 is impressive for any age, shocking for 16. Go for it, I'd train with equipment though to ensure that you can do it.

Why try to pull something that you are not sure you can do?
Why not just pull 500 with ease?
Do you really think the kids in the audience are going to know the difference?
Then when you get the 500.. like Nik says.. add some 25s.. play the crowd..

I would just do 550, all those tiny kids at school will still crap themselves in awe.

Can you do 550 x 5?

Don't do something that you can just get. You will be nervous.

Do something that you can get easily. 495 is pretty impressive to most people, or even 585 or something simpler. 600 has no more visual "awe" factor over 585. People like to see 45s on bars.

Honestly, if you have even 4PPS then people are going to be very impressed. If you're pulling 600 then 5PPS should be cake. Start off with that, and as already mentioned, play to the crowd and add more and more weight depending on how you feel.

I would rig something up so that you're lifting people or objects rather than weights. Attach a bar to a couple of desks and get some people to sit on them. Start with little tiny girls then change them for some "normal" sized people, then get the biggest fattest guy you know to sit on one side and like 2 or 3 ppl on the other.

Start it off as a comdy routine - have some black balloons with "200 lbs" written on them and shoulder press it. Then have someone come out and pop the balloons....or do it with fake muscles and real weight.

The possibilities are endless!

That is such a badass idea.

Yeah. I would start with 4pps, then 5pps, then 6pps for the finisher. You should have no problem doing any of those which will make it that much more impressive.

Indeed, most people won't know 585 from 610.
