View Full Version : Moved back to NC, time to join a local gym.

11-08-2006, 02:02 AM
Well I just moved back to Winston-Salem, NC from Fort-Worth, TX so I haven't worked out for about the past month while I've been dealing with moving. (If anyone needs a house near TCU lmk :)) Going to go join the local Y I used to go to while I lived here tomorrow and I figured I'd throw up some pictures to track any progress. In about the past 2 years I've gone from 280lbs to 180 as of yesterday. Anyways, here are the pics, sorry if they aren't that good, no one to help me take them (except for that awesome box of tissues to use as a camera stand). I'm guessing I'm still around 20% BF? I'm 19 and 6'1".

Here's the old progressive picture to start:

Now a few just taken:

Not really sure, part of me wants to cut to like 12%, but the other part wants to get much stronger again. I've stopped doing Bench Press because I hurt my shoulder after getting 320 and going for 330 and I have no clue what it is now, I didn't work out over summer, and then I got back into it, but then I had to deal with moving so I've been out of the gym for ~1month now. I got back from the Y a little bit ago with some guest passes and a membership form (don't have a checking account right now for them to draft off of and they don't take Credit Cards yet). Going to head back over there in a little and see how I feel and go from there.

Thanks for the comments guys, the only way I personally see a change is if I take pictures and compare them; since I'm used to seeing myself in the mirror, I never feel like I change.

Awesome progress, man. You should feel proud of yourself. At first I thought you might have a slight case of gyno, but in your pics at 180 it doesn't look like it at all, which shows how far you've come.

I don't know what your goals are, but if I were you, I would consider cutting for a little longer. If you can get down to 11% you'll be in great shape to start a nice, slow bulk, and put on some good size. I think you have enough muscle on you right now that you won't look skinny at such a low body fat, so go for it. But yeah, I think something like 15-17% sounds right at the moment. You're definitely not as high as 20%.

Truly an amazing transformation! Keep up the good work!!

Just got back from the Y and I am definitely feeling the not working out for the past month, and I've realized how little water I've been taking in. I feel so dehydrated right now, but I figure in a week or two I'll be fine. I've decided to cut a bit more and hopefully get down to 10-12%.

be very proud of yourself, you deserve it.

yup.. looking WAY better tha before.

One question though.. why did you take the photos in the mirror when you have a camera with a timer on it? lol

Looking good! Youve made some huge progress in weight loss, I think your best bet now is to start getting strong. Eat healthy and lift big with tons of protein and build up some muscle mass!

This is an impressive post, how long ago did you start your dieting?

VERY VERY nice! time to bulk up! you must of dropped your bodyfat at least 12%!

Wow man. Your my hero. You look like a completely different person. You must feel great as well!

Alright, well I can finally go to the Y regularly as the forms I needed are finally filled out (I just moved home to go to another college and my dad wouldn't let me join a gym until I registered for classes), and I only had 2 guest passes that I used over a week ago. I'll probably make a journal tomorrow or Monday to keep track of things. Thank you everyone for the encouragement.

Graet job, an inspiration to us all.

Thanks guys, I was going to cut some more but I decided to bulk up a little bit. Currently at ~184/185 lbs. Can't really decide if I want to continue bulking (I know I haven't bulked much) or if I want to cut down.

You look very different, great work on the cut so far. The biggest difference I see is the one from 211 to 185, you really leaned out in that stretch.

Perhaps the slightest bit more cutting to go and then its time to get big!
