Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster :hello: ... I'm 6'1'' and am actually fairly athletic, and have been at 200-210 and pretty fit (around 17-20% bf) from high school until now. I'm 20 years old and in this past year I have gained 35 pounds boosting me to an unbelievable 245 (28%bf) ! I really let myself go, and frankly I'm disgusted haha. Art school has really turned me into a great artist but a flabby flabby man. This past Monday I started to focus again and eat like I used to: grilled chicken breast, broccoli, spinach, eggs, 1% milk, Kashi, and Whey.

Back when I was concious about my weight (how I miss those days lol), I followed WBB #1 and #2, so I'm pretty well versed in those workout regimens, so I guess my only question to this extremely wise group of people would be am I eating enough? This is what I've had today, and by tonight (6 PM) I should be finishing up my workout:

Total: 1835 kcal
Fat: 41 369 22%
Sat: 8 72 4%
Poly: 4 34 2%
Mono: 7 60 4%
Carbs: 52 173 11%
Fiber: 9 0 0%
Protein: 276 1104 67%
Alcohol: 0 0 0%

It's hard to say if that is enough if you don't know what you eat normally. You need to find your miantenance calories (what you would eat on an average day) and subtract ~500 calories from that number. IMO it doesn't seem like enough, simply because you are a big guy!

It's weird though, I'm sure my maintenance caloric intake is somewhere along the lines of 2400 and so I attempt to eat about 2,000 a day. But today I didn't even feel hungry and I've eaten about 1,900 and lifted weights. I'll probably up the cals because you guys know best though :)

Hunger is funny thing....I force myself to eat ~3700 cal/day and I would probably be satisfied on 2700. But my maintenance is around 3200....strange.

I guess the best way to answer "am I eating enough" is with "are you losing weight at an appropriate rate?" If you're losing too fast, than no, you're not eating enough. A good pace to set yourself at is a loss of 1-2 lbs/week. Any more than that and you risk losing muscle as well as body fat.

I have a somewhat similar build to yours (6' 2", 205 lbs) and I am maintaining (or even slightly cutting) at almost 3000 cals. I guess it would depend on your specific metabolism and the type of cals you intake.

LOL I'm 5'8" 150 lbs and I'm slowly bulking on 3500-3750....yes it does depend on your specific metabolism!

Are you content with your BF and just trying to get bigger?
