Do any of you guys have the problem where if you try to do squats at or near failure, you start doing partial good mornings with the weight on the last few reps? First of all, is this really bad? I have heard it is, but then why wouldn't regular good mornings be bad too? It's the same basic motion, right?
Second, I have noticed that if I stop with the last rep I can do with good form, i.e. without good-AM'ing the weight, I could be capable of doing several more reps, its just the extent of the good-AM'ing would keep getting more and more severe with each rep. Do you guys usually stop with the last rep you can get with good form, or the last rep period?
Could this be a biomechanical issue? I have pretty long legs and a short torso, which I have read puts you at a disadvantage when squatting. Could this be contributing to my tendency to good-AM the weight if I take the squatting too close to failure?
BTW, my best deadlift is 6x435, so I doubt a weak lower back is the cause of this.
