.08.18.2004.

Diet went a little off track for a few days, but I'm back on. Weddings mess things up a bit.

.diet.

No carbs, no fun.

6oz turkey
8oz chicken, broccoli
1 package tuna, 3 foc
8oz fat-free cottage cheese, splenda, cinammon, broccoli
2 servings isomatrix, 3 foc

.supplements.

mutli-vitamin, c, b, e, zinc, h.e.a.t.

.training.

I hit every set I wanted to hit today. After being sick yesterday, that rocks. I was happy with this one and plan on upping the weights for the next session.

incline db press
25x8, 50x12, 50x12, 50x12
lat pulldown
6px8, 10px12, 10px12, 10px12
cable crossover
60psx12, 60psx12, 60psx12
cybex neutral row
8.5px12, 8.5px12, 8.5px12
cybex calf-raise
14px12, 14px12, 14px12

treadmill
20 minutes @ 3.5mph

This guy from work came in and started lifting. He saw I was there so he didn't even warm up, he just jumped to the highest weight he thought he could do, struggled out a couple reps (I mean really, really struggled), then stepped out of the machine with his lats spread. It was pretty funny.

.08.19.2004.

Here's a little stat update for you whores.

Week One : 177 @ 15.25% (+0m/-0f)
Week Two : 177 @ 13% (+4m/-4f)

The quick drops in the beginning make me happy. I'm going to assume it's the h.e.a.t. and believe it will continue on throughout the weeks, leaving me around 177 @ 8% in about 4 more weeks. Yeah right.

I've been neglecting everyone else's journals for a while, due to work restrictions, but I apologize for it. I can tell my popularity has taken a big hit as a result, but that's just the way it goes. At least I'm still #4 on replies and #5 on views.

I wish I had more interesting stories to tell, but both fortunately and unfortunately, life has calmed down a ton in the last 6 months. I guess as I approach the big 2-5 on the 27th, things inevitably become more adult-like. I'm starting to stress a little about 25 and I'm not exactly sure why. I know I'm still really young, but 30 is becoming frighteningly close and I'm not exactly sure where I'll be in 5 years. Financially, I am doing alright, but I've not settled in on an investment plan yet and that kinda scares me. There are a lot of things I'd really like to do with my money in the short-term, so it's tough to split that up with savings.

Perhaps I should charge people $0.05 per view on my journal. If I could back-charge I'd have about $2,000.

Just like every year, I will ask everyone to donate money to the Galileo is Poor fund. I accept paypal. (http://www.hollowmedia.com/donate.html)

Last year I earned a whopping $0.00. I expect to raise at least 1000% more this year.

Alright, I'm done being a beggar. After Flest Fest this weekend, I will guarantee there will be a week's worth of tales to tell, so be ready.

hey gal,

Just a quick question:

You still keeping track of calories, ratios etc?? or just going by "feel, look and hunger" ?

galileo
08-20-2004, 01:10 PM
I still track my calories, but I don't bother posting them in here. If you're interested, I'm carb cycling similar to what Twin Peak's recommends, but with a few variations. My calories go 1000, 1800, 2600 (roughly), and I cycle as I see fit. After a "no" is a "high," never two "nos" or "highs" in a row, etc.

If I went by look, I'd be starving myself daily. :D

I am taking a grad course on International Business that starts next week and already I have a paper due on Japan. My schedule has tightened up significantly as a result. Each week is a 6 page paper, 2 mini case studies, and 100 pages worth of reading. Did I tell you I hate school? No? I hate school.

Tomorrow is FLESH FEST!

8oz yogurt, 1 scoop isomatrix
8oz fat-free cottage cheese, blueberries, 2.5oz oatmeal
6oz turkey, 3.5oz oatmeal
8oz chicken, 3 foc
1 scoop isomatrix, 3 foc

.supplements.

.training.

Twig legs.

smith machine squats
15x8, 85x8, 135x8, 155x8, 175x8
calf raises
14px12, 14px12, 14px12, 14px12
cybex leg curls
7.5px12, 7.5px12, 7.5px12
cybex leg extensions
8.5px12, 8.5px12, 8.5px12

treadmill
20 minutes

Note: I am horrible at smith machine squats. I'm starting these out wide to hit my a*ductors better. I have hella strong quads in comparison. When I was doing narrow atf squats for 240x5, I couldn't do the same with parallel regular. So weak...but I'm fixing it.

.mini.palaver.

I read Men's Fitness today as I walked on the treadmill. I learned so ****ing much! In order to get cut I need to:

Workout 5 times a week
Take Hydroxycut
Do sets of 12
Workout upper and lower separately
Workout 2 times a week
Drink milk (Go calcium!)
Do sets of 3
Avoid dairy at all costs!
Isolate to really hit the target muscle
Take Hydroxycut
No food after 7:00pm
Take Hydroxycut

Wow! My fat doesn't stand a chance! I can lose 25lbs in just 14 weeks if my results are atypical! So sweet...

.08.30.2004.

I had a busy day at work, so I didn't have time to post my update.

So, I dropped that insane MBA class this semester. I have a real problem with writing 8 6-page papers in two months, especially considering how busy I've been at work lately. It's going to take me longer to get finished, but it doesn't appear that I'm going anywhere anytime soon.

So, Flesh Fest...

People slowly started gathering about 6:30-7:00. We decided we needed some Flesh Fest-grade coolers, so we dug some in the ground.

The ****ed-up brick cooler (http://images.hollowmedia.com/cooler1.jpg)
The "It's cold in the ground, right?" cooler (part 1) (http://images.hollowmedia.com/cooler2.jpg)
The "It's cold in the ground, right?" cooler (part 2) (http://images.hollowmedia.com/cooler3.jpg)

Things were moving along perfectly. After gorging on some chicken, I settle in on a few Yuengling Lagers. Mmmm. I start getting tipsy after about two hours of beer and meat (big shocker) and that's when the fun began. Here is a list of things that I did, which I may or may not be proud of (in no particular order). A lot of these come from 3rd person accounts and not necessarily memories. Deal.

1. I placed a half-full bottle of beer on an imaginary table in the middle of my patio. (neutral)
2. I went to the neighbors, lit a roman candle, dove ninja-style into a pine tree, then slept. (proud)
3. I lit a bottle-rocket in my hand and it burned like ****. (not proud)
4. I smacked my friend's girlfriend's ass. (proud)
5. I smacked my friend's ass. (not proud)
6. I climbed a huge-ass tree in my yard and threw cheese at people (proud)
7. I mixed 5 different types of alcohol and didn't puke. (proud)
8. I lost 3 hours of the night and still can't piece together what happened. (neutral)
9. I fell in my neighbors driveway negotiating some extremely rough terrain. Ok, it was blacktop you *******s. **** you. (not proud)
10. I threw beer at my friend in a tree. (neutral)
11. Watched as my friend puked from the back door to the kitchen to the stairs to the basement to the bathroom to his bedroom. (proud, I didn't clean it up).
12. Watched my other friend slip on friend #1's puke and put a 5" gash on her arm. Bitchin! (proud)
13. I passed out at 2:00 am on the livingroom floor after diving towards my cat who was apparently chewing on a plant. (not proud)
14. I woke up feeling so-so, went to Bob Evan's and had to bring my meal home else the table would be adorned in pancakes and bile. (not proud)
15. Five different groups of people told me that this was one of the best parties they'd every been to. (proud)

I'd tell you more, but quite honestly, I missed out on a lot of it. I will say however I did some major drinking and I've not lost time like that for a LONG while. Pretty ****ing cool. Overall, great party!

Here is the final picture of the evening; me passed out on my floor. Enjoy.

How did I end up here? Ask (http://images.hollowmedia.com/mepassedout.jpg)

Birthday was boring in comparison, but I'll let ya know about that later.

.diet.

The carb cycling begins again! Low carb day.

8oz yogurt, 1 scoop isomatrix, blueberries
8oz fat-free cottage cheese, strawberries, 3oz oatmeal
6oz turkey, 3oz oatmeal
8oz grilled chicken, 3 foc
2 servings isomatrix, 3 foc

.supplements.

mutli-vitamin, c, b, e, zinc, h.e.a.t.

.training.

I had no idea what to do for weights because I didn't print out last session's before I left. Yay me. So, I just picked some weights and did them. I was pretty close to what I needed, so that was good.

incline db press
25x8, 55x12, 55x12, 55x12
wide-grip lat pulldown
6px8, 10.5px6 -> 9.5px6 , 9px12, 8px12
cable crossover
60psx12, 60psx12, 60psx12
cybex neutral row
9px12, 9px12, 9px12
cybex calf-raise
8px12, 15px12, 15px12

treadmill
20 minutes @ 3.5mph

Well, I upped the neutral rows, incline presses, and calf-raises. I switched grips on the lat pulldown, which I'm hella weak on it seems, so that lowered. I kept the crossovers the same unintentionally, but they felt good nonetheless. Not too bad of a workout, not as taxing as I expected.

Can you smell that? Oh yeah...it's the smell of my fat burning the **** off, bitches! I started some sesathin the other day and things completely ramped up from there. My chest fat appears to have melted off first, leaving me with far less of a mess than I had in previous weeks. Now I can wear t-shirts again without being concerned about manb00bs. I must say, I'm impressed with the sesathin. I don't expect too much out of supplements in general, but this is one I may end up keeping as a staple for cutting.

Now mind you, I'm still pretty fat right now. But it feels good to have some small, yet slightly noticable progression. I weighed myself at the gym and I was 178, which is a half-pound less than earlier this week, but my muscles look at feel a bit fuller so I don't know if it is accurate to say I lost 0.5lb. I figure I have at least 15 more weeks to cut before I'm remotely happy, putting me in a fairly lean place around Thanksgiving, when I'll likely be going back to the beach. Then I get to deal with all of the holiday eating fun, making me fat again. Yay! Perhaps I should just run 2 weeks of DNP and skip all of this nonsense.

.diet.

Moderate carb day!

I found these bitchin low carb tortillas at Walmart that are made from whole wheat, oatmeal, and soy. 4g carbs per serving, not too shabby.

8oz yogurt, 1 scoop isomatrix, blueberries
8oz fat-free cottage cheese, raspberries, 3oz oatmeal
1 package tuna, 3oz oatmeal
8oz chicken, 3 foc, broccoli
1 scoop isomatrix, 3 foc, broccoli

.supplements.

mutli-vitamin, c, b, e, zinc, ephedrine, h.e.a.t., sesathin

.training.

Stick legs.

I ****ed my back up doing back squats last week, apparently. Back to lunges for a short bit.

db lunges
25x8, 50x8, 55x8, 55x8
calf raises
15.5px12, 15.5px12, 15.5px12, 15.5px12
cybex leg curls
8.5px12, 8.5px12, 8.5px12
cybex leg extensions
9.5px12, 9.5px12, 9.5px12

treadmill
20 minutes

I was surprised at the difficulty I had with the leg curls. The last few reps I didn't feel a solid contraction as I'd like to, but the weight went up, so I can't complain too much. The extensions were easy. Overall a good workout. The lunges were taxing, but still good. I'd rather be doing a form of squat, however, but it isn't in the cards for the moment.

For the most part, yes. Sometimes I also use "pps" for "plates per side." In this case, plates refer to the preset plates on a selector machine, not a 45lb plate. The plates are not equivalent to 10lbs as many would think, so I just write down the number of plates used. Thanks!
.beast.

I haven't had back problems in a really long time. I just made the mistake of doing non-front squats on a smith machien without a belt. Getting up this morning sucked. I guess Marlynn hit snooze for me the first time, because my alarm woke me 11 minutes later than it was set. That's fine, so I just hit snooze two more times making it a 33-minute oversleep. When you get up at 5:00am to go to work, it makes the snooze button almost essential. I could barely move as I started to get ready and it took a good 15 minutes for my world to not appear blurry. Oh well, at least I have a 3 day weekend to look forward to, eh?

I hit all of the goals I had set for this workout, most of them with ease. I've finally gotten acclimated to sets of 12, so I'm excited for the time when I lower the reps to 6-8 and then 3-5. I will up everything next week, but I will put a 2.5lb magnet plate on the cable-crossover because any bigger of a jump will be too much.

.09.08.2004.

I was reading through my journal from about a year ago (http://64.191.89.22/showthread.php?t=22903&page=96&pp=25) when I started UD2 for the first (full) time. Man, I had a lot of fun back then. Lots of stuff was always hapening. Now, a year later, I feel I am missing a big part of my life. I go out and have moderate fun once in a while, but nothing like the way it used to be. Fall and winter forever consort nostalgia, but I'm not sure why. I have fond memories of winter from childhood and even my recent adult years, but there's also a great deal of pain surrounding the inclement months. As I see fall approaching, I also begin to recollect and that's seldom a good thing. I think it might be time for me to become more social once again. In fact, I think I'm going to have a get-together this weekend. Not as big as Flesh Fest, rather something more intimate; perhaps invite 8-10 people over for drinks. We'll see.

The drummer from my old band stopped over on Monday and we all hung out for a few hours. It was surprisingly nice. We decided that we were going to begin playing again starting this weekend, which means a lot to me. Some of the best years of my life were spent with that band and I'm very excited to begin playing again.

Shut the **** up.

Decent workout! No records or anything, but I am pleased overall with my progress. The leg curls are a sticking point, so I added some more hamstring work in the form of the pull-throughs. I was looking very full in the gym mirrors today, especially the trap/shoulder region. Felt pretty good! I had to piss, so I stopped short on the treadmill.

What's up, bitches?

I did a little clip this morning to test the bodyfat and it read a 12.75% (176lbs). That would mean 9 pounds to go to hit 8%. If I end up stalling on this diet, I'll just hit up some UD2 to creep down to that range. I never look anywhere near 8% when I get there, so my guess would be 5% is actually where I'd need to be. That's a depressing 14.5lbs away. If I lost weight consistent with fat-loss, that would leave me close to 160lbs! If I'd stick to my ****ing diet on the weekend a lot better, then I'd be hitting around 2lbs a week fatloss. Unfortunately, I seem to **** up every single weekend.

I don't get it man... I see this a lot in other folks' journals here as well. You've obviously got the willpower and the knowledge to do it right on weekends as evidenced by your success during the week. Why can't you make the diet stick then as well? If that's really all that's holding you back maybe some sort of personal challenge/exercise is in order a/la Tony Robbins or something.

ryuage

You chose to live there with complete knowledge of the history of storms. I barely choose to live here and if I had hurricanes every damend week I'd move the **** out! But you're right, DNP does sound better. Assface.
.cal.

I've identified a few key reasons that I falter on the weekends:

1. I usually end up sleeping for extended periods of time, giving me less time to focus on my diet. Therefore, if I wake up 8 hours later than usual, I end up justifying some extra calories in a meal, which usually means succumbing to the second problem.
2. My girlfriend has a ridiculous metabolism. As a result, she tends to eat whatever she wants whenever she wants. She also does her best to coerce me into eating her favorite foods when we're out, like Chinese, which doesn't always offer a healthy selection within the boundaries of my diet.
3. I sometimes let hunger get the best of me. When I'm working outside doing a lot, I justify drinking a Dr. Pepper or two, because it seems like I'm burning off those calories. I know I'm really not, but it seems a good idea when it's the only beverage in the fridge in the garage.
4. When I wake up, I'm not hungry. That causes me problems on the weekend when I wake up later as well. I am unmotivated and totally not hungry when I get up, so I end up just doing something else.

All of these are somewhat solvable, I just need to do it. Tomorrow morning I'm going to give myself a goal and try to stick with it. Since it's high-carb day, I will treat myself, but I'm going to make it as low-fat as possible.

.ryuage.

This last weekend was rough for me. Friday night I decided I needed a cheat meal and that I'd return to my diet on Saturday. So, I got some Dairy Queen chicken strips and a moolatte. Good stuff! Well, the next day I didn't wake up until pretty late and I was rushing around to get food. I didn't make it to the grocery store, so I just went to Applebee's with my friends when they went. I had something relatively healthy, but by no means ideal. That evening I went out to a bar with my friends and everyone was getting hammered and I was sitting there feeling really stupid, so I grabbed a few shots of jager. Another regret... Then sunday rolled around and I didn't get out of bed until pretty late and I didn't get enough calories in for the day. Monday I had work off so I didn't get to workout, so I got up as early as I could and went outside to wash my car and clean the garage. I drank coffee which killed my hunger for an hour or so, which made me forget breakfast. The hunger hit me very hard, while I was in the midst of my tasks so I just grabbed a soda because it was the only thing close. That led to a second, which led to another wasted day. My friend Mikey came over that evening and everyone wanted to go to Starbucks, so of course I had to get a Frappuccino. Since I'd already ****ed up the rest of the day, I chalked it up as a loss anyhow. All in all, ****ty weekend, backpeddled a bit, but I got immediately back on track this week.

The weekend has been good so far! Last night I stuck to my diet and I played soccer (HIIT anyone?) with Marlynn for about 30 minutes. I made sure to sprint for the ball and I was thoroughly exhausted when I finished. Then today I had a good breakfast, subway for lunch (low fat/higher carb) and I'm going to finish out the evening with some protein/veggie meals. I spent most of my day trimming shrubbery and lanscaping, then I played frisbee for a bit with Marlynn and Corey. Tomorrow, I shouldn't have much to worry about as I plan on doing yardwork most of the day and we never go out to eat on Sunday. Shaping up to be a perfect weekend.

Excellent diet weekend! I managed to keep it pretty low fat all weekend and not really go too far out of control. My bodyfat is down by 0.6% since I last measured it. I think I used the wrong leg pinch last week for a calculation because I just used my chest/ab. So, I am officially 12.75% today, with a smaller ab pinch than before. It's cool, I'm still progressing. I looked way better this morning than I did last night. I'd say about 14lbs to go. With any luck, that'll make me pretty lean by the beginning of November.

I found this dude who is from Denmark that is completely shredded. I couldn't aspire to be that low, but I'm impressed nonetheless.

This was a mixed up workout. I wanted to move up to 60's this week, but I realized that we don't have 60's at the gym. Un****inbelievable. So, I jumped up by 15 friggen pounds to 65's. The 65's weren't coming off very fast for the first rep, but after that I was fine. By the last set, I was so exhausted that it just didn't come up at all. I dropped to 50's and did a quick set of 8. My chest was pretty fried (that was too big of a jump, really), so the crossovers were sloppy. I dropped the weight and did a set of extremely slow, yet light ones with ideal form. The neutral row was simple, but I figured I'd do the same as with the chest and throw in a slow set.

I was so tired today, likely from being so upset yesterday. I don't have much time to explain, but it wasn't a great day to get out of bed. I am going to try to get to bed tonight pretty early.

Heat does nothing for my hunger and Sesathin totally prohibits muscle gain from what I've seen, so I assume nothing spectacular on that end. As far as cutting though, I think I'm fairing pretty well right now. I look far better than I did, just a matter of time.
.mik.

Thanks!
.cphafner.

Yeah, what sucks more is the fact that all dumbbells from here to 95 are 10 pound jumps, so that's like a 20lb progression each time I want to move up. Bleh.
.beast.

First, to me 65's are pretty weak looking. For some reason I picture myself grabbing the 95's and throwing them around like they were pink. Looking back, for 12 reps, I think I'm higher than ever, but I'm not near where I'd like to be just yet. Basically, I am trying to do more of a steady progression deal, but when there are such huge jumps it doesn't happen. I know that 60's may not have been the most I could've done, but I've read that the smaller the progression, the better the adaptation. At least I'm cutting and not losing strength, rather gaining it...

.09.21.2004.

This was quite the long weekend and definitely an eventful one. I have a bare minimum of time to catch you all up, so it's going to be abridged.

It rained 11", flooding everywhere, I was ok because I live on a hill. The water went out for a few days because the pumps broke, so water water everywhere but not a drop to drink, or some ****. I hate rain. I hate hurricaines.

Went to the bar, I made a pool shot getting 3 balls in at once, rocking the house. I walked up to a whore and got her number for my friend. He is a lucky guy. I made fun of a bunch of coke heads, got drunk and surly, then wanted to beat some ass. I went home and got some ass instead.

I checked out a bunch of local gyms, most of which were filled with a specific type of person. Geriatric, white trash, gear-heads, or yuppies. Turns out the yuppy gym will cost me $15 a month because my work has a deal with them. Yay.

All in all, fun. Wish I had time to elaborate, but I have a meeting.

.diet.

Back to it, starting off with a low carb'r.

All I have to say is, "wow." I bought ISS Micellar Matrix in a flavor that I'd normally never try - banana. I don't care much for banana things, but the reviews all stated that it was excellent. I put a scoop in 8oz of plain yogurt this morning and it tasted exactly like banana pudding. Very very good. If you like banana at all, I'd recommend this powder and more specifically this combination.

8oz fat-free plain yogurt, 1 scoop micellar matrix, 2 fish oil caps
8oz grilled chicken, broccoli, 2 fish oil caps
6oz turkey
8oz cottage cheese, broccoli, 2 fish oil caps
2 scoops micellar matrix, 2 fish oil caps

.supplements.

mutli-vitamin, c, b-complex, e, zinc, ephedrine, h.e.a.t., sesathin

.training.

Chest and back day.

incline db press
25x8, 40x6, 67.5x12, 12, 12
wide-grip lat pulldown
4px6, 7px6, 9.5px12, 12, 12
cable crossover
70psx12, 12, 60psx12
cybex chest press
12px12
cybex neutral row
10.5px12, 12, 12

treadmill
10 minutes

w00t! Made all three sets with 67.5! The rest of the workout wasn't too bad, but the cable crossovers are not doing it for me. Time to switch to something else, I suppose. Perhaps some db flyes?

I've successfully increased my weights by 1/2 plate or 5lb increments each week since I started over, which makes me happy.

.09.22.2004.

I'll start off with a quick stat update for the bitches. When I was visiting one of the gyms I stepped on the scale and it read 182lbs. There's a fair amount of difference between that and the 175 that my gym scale is reading. I'm torn about which one I'd rather have be accurate. I mean, if I really am 182 I should look more like 182, right? If I'm 175 it means that when I cut down I'll be in the low 160's, which I don't want. I did my pinches this morning and also got some interesting results. Abs: 14, Pec: 6, Legs: 19. "Interesting in what way," you may ask? One year ago I checked my bodyfat and my ab and pec pinches were quite similar, except my leg pinch was 4mm smaller! How did my body up and decide it wanted to store more fat on my legs than before? I doubt the next week will bring my leg numbers down that far. In addition to that, 4mm is about 1.5% difference in bodyfat. I'm just hoping that I was pinching with a different style on my legs back then. Anyhow, the totals (numbers in [] are according to the other scale):

week one : 177 [184] @ 15.51% --> 150 [155]
week five : 175 [182] @ 11.26% --> 155 [161]

fat loss : 7.75 [8.0]
lbm Gain: 5.75 [6.0]

During my next bulk, I will be focusing (yet again) on my weak chest. I have a few more ideas as to what I need to do to bring it up. I think I'm going to go for a plan like DoggCrapp training. I'm actually pretty anxious to start using it already, but I won't just yet. I'd rather save it for some hypertrophy. I want to keep pretty lean while bulking, so I'm going to do a lean gain again. I'm always tempted just to eat everything in sight, but I can't afford to be in the shambles that I was yet again. The cool thing is, I erased about 3 months worth of damage in 3 weeks. All through the magic of dieting. Sometimes I look at my progress and think I must have a decent metabolism, but other times I look at how I've not been ripped since I was 16 and kickboxing every day, so things aren't that easy. I can't even imagine myself as lean as I used to be anymore.

While waiting for some food to cook, I happened to glance at the candle brochure sitting on the counter. One of the fragrances stood out as something completely horrific. "Good Looking Man" I mean, what the ****?!? It is a fragrance! Why the hell would a good looking man have to smell good? Furthermore, why the **** would anyone want there house to smell like one? I abhor corporate America.

.diet.

Moderate carbation. Yes, I made that word up. No, you can't have it.

6oz turkey, 4oz oatmeal, 3oz low-carb milk
8oz grilled chicken, broccoli, 3 fish oil caps
1 scoop micellar matrix, 3 fish oil caps

.supplements.

No more ephedrine for me. My prostrate is starting to give me a little bit of a problem when I take a few doses. No sense in aggrevating it further. *sigh*

mutli-vitamin, c, b-complex, e, zinc, h.e.a.t., sesathin

I used to go to 2 gyms in Charlotte, and there was a 4 lb. difference on the scales. I know it is difficult, but I tried to ignore both of the scales. As long as I looked like I was progressing in pictures/mirror I was happy. I would also see 4-5 lb. variations if I worked out later in the evening than in the morning, it all depended on my food/water intake.

Quick Workout Update

I joined a new gym last night and it rocks! I've not been this excited to workout in a long time, so this is a great motivator! It does make me sad that I'm cutting as I have a good place to work on a lot of muscular deficiencies I have, but I can't focus on hypertrophy when cutting. Boo hoo for me, I guess.

I ran around the place like a ****** at disneyland. I had to get on every machine in the place and try it out. My workout would take up a whole damned page if I posted it all, so I'll just throw in the highlights.

hammer strength v-squat
1ppsx8, 2ppsx8, 3ppsx8
cybex eagle seated leg curl
80x12, 80x12, 80x12
hammer strength seated calf-raise
1px12, 2px12, 2px12

I love the ****ing v-squat machine! Love it! It was very comfortable and the motion felt natural. I just have to make sure that I strengthen my core as much as possible in other motions (deads, gm's) because this takes a lot of core stress out of the picture.

Quick Workout Update

Had to workout at the work gym today, else it wasn't going to happen. I need to return to the chiropractor very soon and far more frequently.

I decided to do some rest pause work today becuase my presses off the chest are far weaker than the rest of the motion. It seems like the smallest little bit of my ROM is what's causing me to slow down with progression. I also lowered reps to the 6-8 range. I was also pretty sick over the weekend, as the rest of the household is, so I just took it easy.

incline db press (rest-pause)
25x8, 40x8, 55x8, 8, 8
wide-grip lat pulldown
4px8, 7px8, 10px8, 8, 8
cybex seated chest press (rest-pause)
10px8, 11px8, 12px8
neutral grip rows (wide)
6px8, 7px8, 8px8

cybex crazy-ass mofo new machine cardio
10 minutes on BLIZZOW!

I really just tried to focus on getting a full ROM this time and not too much on weight. I know very well that when I switch to the other gym permanently, that all of my weights will be screwed up, so I don't care so much right now. I also plan on switching to UD2.0 in a few more weeks, as long as I can keep my diet straight in the mean time. I made some decent progress over the last month on a regular diet and I may be lean enough soon to justify the switch.

.09.29.2004.

Ok bitches - stat update. I tried another gym scale and found, much to my chagrin, that the lower weight was correct. I guess it could be worse.

week one : 177 @ 15.51% --> 149.55
week five : 175 @ 11.26% --> 155.30
week six : 176 @ 10.5% --> 157.52

fat loss : 8.97
non-fat gain: 7.97

Things are going well so far. Weight is holding steady around the 175 area. I took a gander in the mirror this morning and I was pretty happy with where I was. It looks a little more like I have pecs instead of boobs now, but there's still a ways to go before I'm ripped.

Sounds like cutting is treating you peachy. How is the strength suffering, is the question begged?

Thanks man. I'd love to friggen see 5%.
.superior_will.

I don't think I've lost much as far as strength goes. I was comparing by 12RM from UD2.0 days and I'm actually lifting significantly more this time around, so I guess that's decent, I do different routines between bulking and cutting and sometimes I end up being unable to compare due to exercise changes or extreme rep differences.

Gooood stuff!.

Gal,

I'm simply amazed that you were able to lose 5% bodyfat in 6 weeks...

you think Flesh Fest would of increased it by 5% :)

Later,

That's what I hear on the streets... :)

How much cardio were you doing a week? or was it all a product of heat or ephedrine?

It was most likely the product of a fairly controlled diet. I've given my opinion on HEAT and I shall again. On a scale of 1-10, hunger control gets about a 2 and fat loss I will give a 5. I had no true control group as far as that goes, so I can only assume it worked in an average gashion. I think the sesathin may have done pretty well for me as I noticed a change immediately after the addition.

I did a mild amount of cardio, but as of late I've really slacked on it. I cancelled my work gym membership and I've been completely unable to get to the gym to turn in my application before the coordinator is gone for the day. I will definitely be back on track again soon, I just need to handle a few things first - like my back.

I've shared all I've had so far. Unfortunately, as I've said, life got hectic this week and circumstances have prohibited my gym usage. I will be back in full swing soon, hopefully with a new program.

You weren't prying. I should really be working out more frequently, I just had a rough week. All things considered, I've made a lot of progress. Even some regression wouldn't cause me a large amount of concern at this point.

Well everyone, I hate to do this, but I think I'm going to be taking some time off from my journal. I lived through some personal tragedy this weekend and I don't have the clarity at the moment to really focus on any goals. I've broken a lot of promises to myself and I've learned a few things in the process. Now, I just need some time.

Incoherence - advance apology

I am a complete wreck.

As some of you may have read, I am in the middle of a horrible situation, which has taken a great toll on me. My girlfriend of nearly 6 years has been numbed by the use of an SSRI (paxil) for the last few years and it has been a prolonged nightmare for almost as long. Finally, after much convincing, she has agreed to come off of the life-stealing medication and focus on getting therapy to resolve her anxiety. As pleased as I am with this decision, a plethora of new fears have surfaced. What if it isn't the drug that has caused our problems? What if when she comes off she's not the same person I knew before she was on? What if all of the energy I put into a relationship that spanned 1/4 of my life has been a waste and I'm left without my love, my best friend, and my sanity? Questions that only time will answer, I suppose, but I am more afraid now than I've ever been in my entire life.

Last Thursday evening, she began dropping her dose by 1/4. The withdrawal from this set in last night when she complained of muscle cramps, nausea, a spacey feeling, and restlessness. I recall the last time she tried to halve her dose (before the full onset of apathy) and she went into a shaking stupor where she sat in a bathtub full of cold water trying to gather herself. I am certain that this will prove to be a very difficult time, even more so than I am currently experiencing.

I am a complete wreck. It bears repeating. I don't want to get into too much detail, but this has taken a huge overall toll on me and it's not yet over. I've not weighed myself, but I look in the mirror and see an obvious loss of muscle. I've been unable to focus at work, yielding no amount of sufficient work in the last week. There is an apparent irony in this situation - I am so riddled with anxiety and depression that I would likely be prescribed the very drug I have declared war upon, was I to see a doctor. I am a textbook case of separation anxiety, but I've never been so bad. I miss her when I'm with her.

A lot of philosophical questions have arised from this debacle. Today I live with 1000 regrets - will there come a day in which I will regret nothing? What is love without love? Is it worse to be wrong or wronged?

I can't run away from my problems like I did as a child. As apparent as that may seem, perhaps a part of me has already started running. ****. Character? Perhaps. When one is cut so deep, it is unreasonable to even fathom that the blade left the nerve unscathed. I can only deal.

Thank you for all of your prayers. I honestly believe they've helped. If you pray, please pray for her recovery and her ability to find the passion she once had.

My thoughts are with you. Something that always helps me get through hard times is to remember my darkest moment and how somehow I survived it. You will too. If anything, we're a resilient species. Hang in there.
