I'm sure he can probably dunk, but a jump on to a high box is very different from a big vertical. He's getting his feet up really, really high, but his head is only moving a few feet.

He has a 39" vertical. Pretty sure he can dunk. ;)

I have around 38.5 inch vertical at just over 6'0 and can't dunk. I can jump well with 2 feet and i can get way over the rim but that basketball in my hands ****s me up.

Because it's part of his jump training.

I used to do that with the bleachers at my old school...nowhere near that high though haha.

Not trying to discredit any of his training, but he certainly seems to have the best lower leg structure for jumping, at least theoretically.

Anyone know if that's a generally accepted idea? (That the shorter calf = longer achilles tendon = more elastic energy = higher jumps? Seems to make sense I guess).

Yep. Look at the leapers in the NBA or high jump -- they have exactly the structure you describe.

i dunno, sidior has really short calves, and he can't jump for ****, while i have much longer calves, can jump higher, yet his legs are much stronger lb for lb. might just be an isolated example though.

Yes...or maybe it depends more on your fast-twitch fiber ratio in the jumping muscles, and it's just a coincidence that people who happen to have a high amount of fast-twitch fibers also have the shorter calves and longer achilles tendon...

I'm not saying, implying, or thinking this is fake, but - The jump from the bottom of the stairs to the window looks like he's flying. It almost looks like a bad movie special effect. The jump up is at a speed that just makes it look too slow for the jump. Perhaps I've never seen anyone jump that high (recorded) before.

I'm very impressed with his jumping abilities. Some of his other videos are equally as impressive.

Somewhere there's a video of some sprinter jumping on a box shoulder high. I'll see if I can find it.

I have a fairly high box jump but can barely dunk. I don't have much of a vertical but I can tuck my feet up real quick. I can pretty easily hit a 42" and 46" box but I don't think my vertical is really all that high.

I noticed that has really good speed on his split jerks. He is only about 3-4x faster than I am. He has some spring in him for sure.

What height do your hands reach when you are standing? At 7.5', a 38" vertical would place you 6 inches over the rim.
I have maybe a 26" vertical and I have dunked once. I'm 6' 5 BTW.

I can get over the rim about a foot i can touch about 11 feet in a vertical test.
