i believe it time for me to start a journal so all of you can see what im made of

i am bulking right now will be unitll febuary when i will start my contest prep(for a show in july, not sure which one yet)

i also am inseason for track i do shot put, discus and hammer

feel free to ask me anything

i just got done with a 20rep squat program, thank god its over! and this week and the next two will be transitioning into low rep stuff to prepare me for a russian cycle(lost of low reps)

here are this weeks work outs so far

no weights just hammer and shot drills with the med ball


this week will be lighter in throwing than normal because i have finals this week so i HAVE to study as much as i dont want to

morning work out sucks!!!! but one of my girls is starting to lift faithfully and she goes in the morning so i had to train wiht her to bust her ass!

we did shoulder calvs and abs ( not what i would nomally put together but thats the only things both of us havent doen so far this week)

not that much volume only took about an hour and 10 minutes - i think it looks like a lot more volume then it was because of all the different ab exercises

ok picture in the green bikini is july 06 at 162 pounds right before i started to cut for my show

pic in sports bra september 06 a week or two before my show 140ish pounds

back double bi about 3 weeks ago at about 175 pounds chubbo!!!!:burger:

this is my first real attempt to bulk in highschool and my first 3 years of college i alway bascially at at mantinance trying to get stronger not bigger(little did i know they basically come hand in hand) i've learned a lot over the years

i will be bulking untill febuary then i will be cutting for my next show

I thought I remember reading somewhere that you had some pointers on sprinting and/or lateral mobility drills? If so I may pick your brain a bit ;)

risk- i LOVE rack pulls nothing is more exciting than throwing 3 45's on each side and moving that weight!!!

eric- thank you! im a track and field athlete so thats where i have the sprinting/mobility experience but i myself am a thrower. We do a lot of drills, sprints and mobility work, all stuff working on fast twitch muscle, i also am around the sprinters, and jumpers every day so i see what they do as well

Do you go into a full overhead squat when you snatch? I ask because I cannot overhead squat at all and therefore I really can't do snatches. :(

no i don't drop my ass that far- i dont train overhead squats enough to do that - snatches are done to work on explosiveness (for me that is)- i really should work on my overhead squats though since i do want to compete in olympic lifts somtime

ruless- glad you came by- and thanks- this year im redshirting so im not training the way i usually do, im basically not giving myself as much recovery as i should to perform well so with that being said throws are going well for the volume of training

usually right when get back to school in late august is when we start out plyo/conditiong type stuff then our season dosnt start till january

we start out doing conditioning 2-4 times a week then when our lifting volume increases we cut it down to twice a week and less volume then we did in august

in august the goal of conditioning is more to geared to getting in shape and later on its more geared towards getting fast and explosive

step- if you'd like to chime in here im pretty sure you guys do things a little differently (she does track to, at another school, w/ a different coach)

oh yes I wanted to comment

I have had 2 different coaches with 2 simlar but completly different philosophys both would have us do some type of running and plyos

the first coach would kick out asses daily where we would barely be able to get out of bed with things like 400 repeats and 150 sprints or 20 min of hell( jog 50m run 50m for 20min) also I dont even wanna think about the lifting he put us thru in this beat up state...yes it would get us in shape quickly and test or mental strength but we would all get slugish again thru out the season

my new coach had us do 3 different typesof conditioning never lasting longer then 20-30min first day would be coordination second day strength and third speed...we trained 5 days a week and rotated these 3 types of workouts
-coodination would be mainly stair variations walking on the way down and different hoping movements up the stairs on using 18" hurdles,core work too
-strength would be things like farmers walk, tire flips,3 sets of stairs walking while pinching plates,medballwork
- speed day would be simply sprints never running more then 100m at a time always staying under 1600m in total distance

this way we werent watsted for throwing pratice

the first coach would simply drop all running and plyos when we got within a month or 2 of season
the second kept us doing plyos(bounding,hoping,occasionaly stairs) once a week and short sprints (10m-40m) also once or twice a week up untill about 4weeks before our first meet where we then droped all ploys and only did quick sprints such as 10-20m for 10

sorry that was long I get to excited when people want to do these types of things

ok i havent posted in here in awhile

heres todays workout

power cleans 4,4,3,3,2
60k,65,70,75,80k on 80 showed my plams but didnt get the full catch

flat bench 8,6,5,4,4 - didnt go so well had a horrible spotter -had to quit before my last set i was pissed
135,145,155,165 - on this last set the guy spoting me grabed the bar to "spot" me on the SECOND rep when i didnt need it all i could thingk about was he grabed i had that! and he grabed the bar y duid he grab the bar what the **** -so i had to rack it and move on

incline bench 2x12
w-up 45, 95,105

flat db bench 4x4 - had to go back to the flat
55,60,65,70 (3) didnt have a spoter for the last set when i needed one cuz i didnt know anyone in the gym and after the flat bench i didnt trust any of the small guys in there

db flys 2x12
15,15

roll the rack curls started at 30 failed on eah set and went down 5 pounds eash set-with no rest 10,8,10,10,10, 10

i hate curls wait ihate bench to

but cleans are fun!!!!!!

me and brother went to the Y today just to play with the gravity boots
saw tony doing squats ON the swiss ball like feet on top so we talked to him a bit and was like ok were outta here like 10 minutes after we got there
---his jaw droped and hes goes "already" hehe

I have the same problem with my quads. I'm using slower negs and longer rep ranges, and front instead of back squats. Hopefully this will translate to meatier quads once I can see them again!

thanks bear im having trouble with them i was suppoed to be at 240 (80% of what my coach was predicting my max to be) but I was haveing enough trouble w/ 225 so i had to settle

i just swiched from a program where i was doing very high reps 20 reps for one set really heavy to be exact- and while doing this i was making sure to keep every rep at least parallel but toward the end of the set i would usually drop below parallel - like ass to ankels- to make the transitions at the bottom easier for me

now that im doing low reps im really having touble not droping below parallel and getting out of the bottom- im not doing that much more for 2-5 reps compared to what i was doping at 20 so it really should not be a problem- the transition at the bottom is where all my problems begin

NO SPOTTER - there was a guy in the gym who may have been able to handle the job but he was very focused- i didnt want to bother him

Have you been doing any isolation work for your hammies and Glutes 8.8? The bottom of my ATFs are helped out immensely by RDLs, SLDLs and Box squats... see if your coach will let you give it a go!!

bear wolf- yes i have been comign along a lot better on my squats this past week -i think it just took me that long to transition - thankfully ive gotten back into my normal rythem - and yes steps was right but not to worry head is back where is should be, diet is 75%better ,and my schedule is gettgin back to normal!!!!

Perhaps b/c he was a he and not a she???
In the world we live in, a guy is afraid of touching a girl.. especially if it is anthing close to inappropriate at all... and with a proper Squat spot, things can get close to inappropriate.

Back when I was a trainer (late 80s) at a gym that had a few female college athletes and BB'ers.. I would get asked frequently to spot squats. Each time, I would say one thing.. "You asked me to spot, so you asked me to touch you if something goes wrong.. please excuse me if I touch something I shouldn't, but I would feel better if I kept you safe then worried about some flesh against my arms."

Next time tell your "new" spotter that it's ok to touch.. not grope... but I need your arms under my arm pits around my chest, so that you can prevent me from injury if need be.

Nice work 8.8! I definitely feel you on the spotter issue. I've had spots where the person actually grabbed the weight and was doing most of the lifting--the entire set. Ruined the workout.

I can't remember the last time I actually used a spotter, but I'd like to max my bench, so I need to find someone.

mike - yesterday my discus training just consisted of warmping up streaching some stand throws, 180's and full throws working on technique of course but on other day i do different med ball drills, various bounding and sprinting and of course lifting


yobrick-thats no good haveing a pulled muscle- but smart move on laying off the squats - i strained me quad two years ago throwing the jav and didnt really take any time off and it didnt relly get better untill the season was over- yea to bad

so I am OFFICIALLY the worst squater on my team there 6 other girls and they had squat maxes yesterday (my maxes are next week) and they ALL got over 300 pounds and one of them got 425!!!! and she droped it lower then all of them - CRAZY!!!!!!!

i still got all but one of the bench tho ;)

they have clean maxes tomrrow i think i should have most of them on those to

mike- yea she pretty impressive - she weighs about 240(105k) right now tho she got 100k for her clean max today

galieo- yea its not to bad the weight room is my favorite part lol

step- i know they are but some of them dont quite go parallel- i will be maxing on monday and wednesday probally cleans on monday and squat and bench on wednesday

obviously the one on the right is me the one right next to me is the one who squats 425 and benches 240 shes a beast the next one ovewr when to junior world in the javelin last year the last one is a weight and hammer thrower we were all goin out for my girl and my birthday a week or two ago it was my girls 21st so we had to go big!!!!

doc- yes my track coach is the one who gives me work outs some of the time he designs them himself other times he takes different work out from other people. the last cycle i did was the russian strenght cycle then i maxed out after it (last week) this week i was supposed to start using bands and chains but my coach dosnt really know much about using them so he and i will be doing some research this week and come up with somthing good to start on monday (my sisters coach really knwos what hes doing with them so i plan on talking to her or him)

btw- this is the second time i have done the russian strenght cycle and I LOVE it its great for anyone whos looking to make some serious gains

i know its only a 3 day program but it works!!! its going to be hard and your going to be tired if you stick to it and follow the precentages -

the first four exercises of each day are the important exercises as far as the rest fo the day goes if you want you can feel free to change things ass you please the only thing i owuld advise against is doing any other heavy leg exercises on the 6x2 days you need to recover!!!
