I just want you guys to take a look at these macros Im gonna use to cut. Im 240 lbs
now, and I'd like to get down to the 215-220 range, and drop a lot of bodyfat. Im going with Gino G's recommendation to eat 3000 cals a day.

3000 cals
240 grams protein =960 cals
384 grams carbs =1536 cals
55 grams of fat = 495 cals

Well, 2991 cals to be exact split over 6 meals. I wanna bring all the muscle out that Ive busted my ass to get, but is covered by fat. Whatdya think. Gino, if you see this, holler.

The macro breakdown looks good, might be a little high on carbs, but that depends a lot on what carbs you're eating and the times you are eating them. Could better assist you if you actually posted the complete diet.

How many grams of carbs should I drop?

Without knowing what carbs you are eating it's kind of hard to say.. There's a big difference in eating ding dongs or twinkies and brown rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and so on.

I dont have an actual meal sample set up, cuz I didnt start yet, but my carbs will be coming from oatmeal, rice, pasta, whole wheat bread, and potatoes. And if you wanna count veggies and fruit, then I guess those too.

Considering those as my carb sources, do you still think I will be eating to many carbs for a cutting diet? Im am hoping to not lose much muscle, just to uncover it.

Oatmeal, brown rice, sweet or regular potatoes are all fine for cutting, I use them on cuttings diets I have been on. The past and whole wheat bread I'd watch out for, but you if you do want to eat them, eat in moderation. Also with fruit, make sure not to over eat there too. I'd go with what you have planned out right now, but if you aren't losing body fat the first thing I'd drop out of the diet is the wheat bread and pasta.

50% of your diet is carbs. Thats too much.

Well I can kick up the protein and fat, and lower the carbs

protein 265 grams =1060
carbs 328 grams =1312
fat 70 grams = 630 cals

for a grand total of 3002

Basically each meal would consist of 44g pro
54g carb
12g fat
Hows that look?

It looks pretty good. It all depends on what type of carbs you are eating and other personal metabolism factors. I can eat a decent amount of carbs without worrying about gaining fat, but others may not. I happen to like the 50, 30, 20 protein/carb/fat split while cutting. At 2500 calories a day, that equates to ROUGHLY 310g of protein, 190g of carbs, and 55g of fat daily spread over 6-7 meals. I'll usually increase the fat intake by adding more flax, which will lower the protein/carbs percentages slightly.

Thanks a lot. maybe I'll go with that 50/30/20 split.

Yeah, Gino, other people like me. I wouldn't even eat that many carbs if I was bulking.

Bummer, I like to get up close to 500g of carbs while bulking. I won't gain much fat either.

Damn, if I ate 500g when bulking, I'd bulk up real quick from about 10-12% body fat to about 25% body fat. Sucks having such a sh!tty metabolism.
