It's been a long while since I posted up updated pictures of myself (August 05), so I felt it was due. Besides, it's almost 2 years to the day that I started on this site and posted my first pictures of myself at a scant 145 lbs. Now I'm up to 204 as of the time of these pics, though I've pretty much been maintaining at between 200 and 205 for the past year. I may decide to cut down about 5-10 lbs sometime in late winter to get a bit more definition and to make the 198 class for my next PL meet.

What do you all think?

Major changes Guido. However, I would definately cut in your situation. But your goals are different than mine. In many ways, I find your old look better (because you were more cut). I am pretty sure if you dropped down to 180 you would be pretty ripped out and look impressive. Not sure if that is your thing or not... You don't hold much fat in your obliques area, but you do hold it all over. It seems quite evenly distributed over your entire body, which can be good or bad depending on your point of view :D

I know you are a power lifter and looks probably don't mean much to you. So my advice might not mean much either. Either way, looking pretty thick and strong!

In those second set of pictures, you look larger than 145... You look about 155 to 160 in my opinion. Your older pictures where you started were not bad at all. You had a decently athletic physique with some muscle mass. So, it isn't like you started like a complete wimp!

Was that Jethro? Looking good, man - when's your next meet, and uh I agree with Arch, maybe dropping down to a lower class might not be a bad idea :D.

The light was kind of washed out in my new pics, so I actually have more definition than my pics show. Lighting makes a big difference. I do plan on dropping about 7-10 lbs for my next meet, though, so I can make 198 class with room to spare. I should definitely be pretty cut, then.

Angel - dropping down to 180 would be bad, considering that I have 174lbs of lean mass last time I was bodyfat % tested (2 months ago). I'm thinking if I were going for "rippedness" that 190 would be about ideal.

Russianwol - I was about 145 when I started lifting seriously. And yes, I had a fairly good base to start with because I had been a serious swimmer and triathlete beforehand.

Legs are massive, G! What are they measuring these days? Looks like you're roll'n on some 28" wheels to me.

Great work, especially considering you were already pretty solid.

Not to start an arguement, but I have found that when doing body fat tests, LBM is overstated when in a bulking phase and understated when in a cutting phase. The reason is simple: Water. Water is the main part of the LBM figure and when you are bulking you almost always have excess and when you are cutting you typically have depleted much of the water you would see from maintenance.

My LBM is around 150 lbs, but if I decided to move to maintence, it moves right up to 160 or so. Yes, 10 pound difference and it isn't due to muscle, but purely water. So, when you get measured during a bulk for BF, it might be skewing the results in favor of a leaner you. Of course this all depends on the method used for testing body fat and what areas they decided to test on your body.

ArchAngel - I wasn't bulking or cutting at the time I did the BF test. I've been maintaining for the past year or so.

Stump/RockSteady - Yep. Exactly 28" measured cold, and I don't carry too much fat on my legs. :)

same when i did my last test, i was just doing whatever.

i carry some fat in my abductors of the leg, its funny my legs go to ROCK HARD and cant pinch anything to soft on the sides lol.

is your stomach flat G? i ask because your pants are high in the pics and i have a huge stomach. we are like exact in terms of measurments and LBM so your a good example of what ill look at 205 i guess lol.

Hey Guido,

Just curious, what body fat were you tested at most recently? Do those pictures here in this post display pretty closely? Just gathering some guestimates for myself.

Sweet Merciful Crap, Guido! That's amazing.

Talk about "Quadzilla". And those lats, it's no wonder you're deadlifting in the five hundreds.

Excellent progress in just two short years.

Keep it up, man. You're an inspiration.

You gained a lot of muscle, but your bodyfat practically doubled. Regardless, I'm sure if you cut down now, you would own your former self. You have gained huge amounts of muscle all over in a relatively short amount of time.

Omg, I didn't noticed, I thought he was showing how he got leaner...He was a good looking guy, now he has gained too much bodyfat, but I'm sure he'll burn it later, he is much bigger now though, it's insane

You have gained huge amounts of muscle all over in a relatively short amount of time.It hasn't doubled, but yes I have more bodyfat. Comes with the territory of wanting to get big in a realtively short period of time. I'm also a powerlifter, so appearance is less a concern for me than if I were just lifting for bodybuilding or to get chicks.

Hey Guido,

Just curious, what body fat were you tested at most recently? Do those pictures here in this post display pretty closely? Just gathering some guestimates for myself.I was at 14.5% when I got tested about 2 months ago. I'm probably still about the same. In my "before" pics I was probably closer to 9%, though I don't know for sure.

Guido How much have your lifts increased over this time frame?

Guido
12-20-2006, 02:14 PM
Most have almost doubled. Bench was ~190, now 290-295. Squat was 245, now 405-415. Deadlift was 275, now 520-530.

I just realized how harsh I must have came off, lol. Your quads and lats have blown up to say the least. To be completely honest, I would have a hard time believeing it was the same person if I wasn't a regular on these forums. You used to look like a wannabe fitness model, and now you like a pling beast. Hopefully, people use your transformation as insipiration.

Guido

No biggie, Gabrielle. I'll take any comments that people have and will use them to motivate myself. I'm not too sensitive about such things. I have actually decided to do a slight cut to lose only about 10 lbs in the next 3 months. That way I'll be at around 194-195 but still able to switch between 198 and 220 classes if I want. I'll also look a bit better in swim trunks once summer comes around!

Gabrielle
12-21-2006, 02:39 PM
I give you props because you look so much better than 2 years ago. You don't look sloppy and you are definitely thick now. If you ever decide to get ripped for summer time you will turn a lot of heads.
