View Full Version : Deadlift Soreness?
Well I started the first day of my Rippetoe's program yesterday. Everything seemed to go well including the deadlift.
When it came down to my deadlifts, I put up 275X5 and it was pretty hard. I probably could have put up a little more, but it was definately hard to do.
Today, I feel absolutely nothing in my lower back. It doesnt feel sore or tense or anything. Should i be worried that I'm not working it hard enough, or just keep going with what I'm doing?

If it was a hard workout then you're on the right track. Soreness has nothing do to with growth or strength.. I only get sore with high rep stuff..

some people experience second day soreness so it could be still to come....could also mean you did a good job at useing your legs for the lift instead of you back

I asked a question similair to this not long ago. My lower back didnt hurt after I lifted my personal record of 175x6. They said its not a good thing or a bad thing. It could very well mean my technique was much better (I did change up things) or it could mean my technique is still bad but my lower back has gotten used to it.
Im sure a LITTLE lower back fatigue isnt bad (you are using your lower back to some extent) but if you dont feel anything than your more or less good to go.

I generally feel nothing in my lower back when I do deads. It's all in the upper-mid area.
Today is actually the first time in a while where I've had any kind of soreness in my back, but I just feel like I overworked a muscle.

Congrats on getting started with Rip. Don't forget to eat right and keep track of your progress.
