Here's a video of me deadlifting 295 x 5 @ 164ish lbs (~2 weeks ago). I'd love some critique on my form. Ignore the [M] in the beginning. I posted this on another forum as proof that I could lift what I said I lifted. Anyway, critique away please!

Here you go. Please excuse the fact that the video is on it's side. It's the only way I could see myself in the view screen without having someone else hold the camera (I also couldn't figure out how to rotate it on the computer)

.mp4 - 1.7mb

*Note* I have recently lowered the reps I do with deadlifts. I have noticed my form getting worse and worse as I go higher in reps. I now shoot for 3 maybe 4 reps on a deadlift.

To me your form looks slightly poor, little leg drive, back not arched till the top, and the bar moves a bit away from you legs. Still nice weight and close to 2xbw, keep up the good work.

hard to tell .....

but it looks like your not pulling your back into an arch...your letting it hang from the shoulders....

you need a tight arch in your back like a U instead of an n...

stick your ass out more at the back too

Got it. Thank you those of you who have posted. I'll be working on your suggestions next deadlift. Maybe I am pushing the weight a little too high. I"ll play around with it.

it looked like you were handling that weight well..not really struggling, just try and tighten it up a bit and stick your ass out

Yup. I agree with this ^^

Looked to me like you were keeping your arms and shoulders tense like you were trying to a shrug almost. Leg your arms act like ropes and just keep a tight grip, keep your lower back good an arched and stick your butt out.

Agree with Kevin.

At the moment what we're seeing is a hybrid movement of a dead and a sldl. You should lower the weight and improve your form, never sacrifice good form for large poundages.

At the moment, you're pulling entirely with your back. Your legs have already locked out about a third of the way through the movement. You'll get more power if your legs are locking out at the same time as your back. The best way to accomplish this is to stick your ass out and get your hips down. Keep the bar as close to your body as possible and look upwards.
