So after much thinking I have decided that I want to go into one of these fields as a career. Its pretty ****ty realizing this my sophomore year of college. As it turns out the ADA (American Dietetics Association) is very selective with who they allow to take the RD exam. I was also looking at Nutrition/Exercise science majors and it seems everywhere I go the general consensus is that its much harder to find work if your not a certified RD its much harder to find work and jobs pay much less.

Anyway, anyone here have a career in one of these fields and could offer some insight or advice it would be much appreciated. I'm basically looking to make a living out of some combination of nutritional counseling/personal training.

You'll want to look at Univ. of Connecticut if you want a degree in Strength and Conditioning. They have an excellent program.

I'm working on my cft and then into sports conditioning, my end goal is to help condition fighters and be a strength coach or conditioning coach in that area

One word of advice, all of these positions are few and far between. Strength coaches are probably one of the hardest, esp. if you want to coach at a university level or anything professional. RD or dietician(sp?) are a little easier cause of the number of jobs around at hospitals and health orgs.

Good luck to all of you. Always have a back up plan...
