The thing about my wife is she is partially disabled. She had two severe herniated disks in her lumbar and they would not heal. She literally could not walk for a year leading up to the point where we made the decision to have a fusion done across three vertebra. The first surgery did not heal properly and de3veloped scar tissue which crimped the nerves going down her right leg. The pain was severe and she lost all control and movement in the leg.
We got several opinion from other surgeons and we made the decision to have the fusion redone. Now itís been a couple months and sheís recovering much better then the first time around. She is so weak that she needs to go to physical therapy full time. She does not want to go so Iím in the process of trying to convince her.
All of these problems have required her to be on a lot of narcotic pain killers and the fact that she has been living like this for so long has taken a toll on her and I both emotionally and psychologically. Sheís very emotionally unstable and Iím just plain tired and overwhelmed with responsibility.

If it werenít for the gym I donít think I could do it and itís become very difficult for me to justify the time it takes. She should realize that I need the gym but sheís very selfish and the pain meds render her very unreasonable and she doesnít even realize it.

I really appreciate the interest in my lifting.
Thanks.

I can't imagine the amount of responsibility that your wifes medical problems must put on you and the stress it puts on both of you. Your more a man then most, for how you take responsibility like that.

Some of those comments had me laughing so hard in real life. The best one was that "what you dont see is the other side, which as ZERO plates".

I'd be willing to be that benching 4 plates on one side and none on the other is harder then actually benching 405.

Then rockman50, you can rest assured this is some 15 year old kid barely repping 135 so their would be no reason for him to attack you (a person who doesn't even know you) over the internet. Or perhaps he's 5'2 and 100 pounds and just pissed off at the world or something.

Disable the comments bro, its a hard choice but thats what Id do. They do provide some pretty good laughs though! Aluminum weights LMAO.

First off sorry to hear about the trying times you and your wife are going through communication is paramount.
Secondly your training is going well considering your divided attention. Don't feel guilty about your time spent lifting rather tell her your need for this outlet.
If you have already tried this there are too many other options left to explore or list here PM me if you need to talk.

Just picking about the wife, I remember in the old journal. That is some deep stuff for you both. Then children on top of it all. You do have to make some time for yourself, to stay sane.
I know its slow but hopefully things will improve. bill

Trust me man if you wanna see stupid comments look through my videos on Youtube.. i've had people say some really ridiculous things to me. Claiming that I weigh 250, that I cant bench 300 raw, etc... etc....

Your workout looks awesome and your goodmornings are freakin awesome. As far as your front squats it looks like your knees are jutting forward just a little too much, might wanna try sitting back a bit more. Granted you do use a clean grip and not cross arm so my advice could be wrong but I like to sit back more and arch hard to keep the bar on the shoulders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B3tOOlA0aA I've had some knee problems in the past so the way you do it kinda makes me knees cry but I could be completelly wrong I havnt been front squatting very long. 1/11/07 - Delt, triceps
This should have been a DE bench and light delt day BUT it turned into another workout where I went too heavy and did too much volume. Thing is I'm making major gains lately so I'm just going with it. Screw the preconceived routine.

Standing overhead Press (off supports set at slightly above collar bone level, strict press)
170x6
180x6
205x4
225x3
245x2
265x1
275x1 -PR (I think)
Overhead Press (free standing):
185x4
165x6
145x6
Narrow grip bench press (w/ chains):
241x6
261x6
281x6
301x6
221x10
Lateral raises:
four sets to failure
cable press downs (w/ rope):
three sets to failure

The gyms new facility is attracting a lot of new people. I'm getting to know quite a few cool guys (and gals). There was a nice lady BBer lifting. She was strong too. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her.

Thanks for the advice man. The problem is if I sit back further it causes me to lean forward more to keep from falling backwards which then causes me to loose the bar off the front. I suppose the remedy may be arching my back more but I'm finding it very difficult. I need to work on them a lot more.

I'll have to be much better at the meet or I'll get smoked. I can't compete for first on bench so if I don't nail my dead max it will suck. I wanted to see where I stood this evening since I had not dead lifted heavy for a long time. I'll hot the heavy GMs from now until the meet.

Sick workout HB.. just plain sick!!

HB, I went thru the journal and can't seem to find which contest you are doing? I think it's in Feb. and has a bad promoter, but not sure of date and/or place or fed?

I think your 1st 2 BP lifts are well planned.. but on your 3rd.. I think you've got more in you.. possibly a 350 or 365!! Don't you wait until contest day to see how you feel before planning this? It seems that if you were pysch'd after the 335, your adrenaline will be sky high and use to really break the PR.

You are much more experienced w/PL contests then I am... so I was just wondering your planning/attitude?

My routine is constantly changing. I do keep with a conjugate training approach however. I'll never stop training conjugate as long as I can. This routine takes enthusiasm, high calories and a lot of work ethic. When I'm able to concentrate on this routine it never lets me down.
I have tried a lot of different approaches over the years and my current routine works the best for me hands down.

The one I'm training for is Sunday, Feb. 4th -Yes, Super Bowl Sunday! How asinine is that? :bash:

See, that's just the latest example of how bad the promotor is. They scheduled the meet right before THE SUPER BOWL!
I do not understand what they could possibly be thinking. That probably means there will be no one from out of the area attending. Hell, even people in town probably won't show. Who wants to do a power lifting meet right before the Super Bowl???

It's just a local push/pull meet. Not sanctioned. It's just for fun.

Okay, my plan kind of fell apart today at the meet. It was kind of a sub-par effort for several reasons but I did okay and it was a lot of fun seeing all my lifting buds and I met some new people including a couple real strong ladies.

Here we go:
2/4/07 - Push/Pull Meet
Bench Press:
410 good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2g5tZyI5wQ
435 failed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7e__YZym9g
435 failed
Dead lift:
550 good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l_fwJnHkoc
590 good
610 good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o55E2jbDsRg

Really, I chould have got the 435 but my form broke down and I just didn't have it in me today. I got a major cramp in my right erector during the lift and I was doubtful I could do dead lift but I got it to loosen up and it didn't have much of a negative effect.

There was not anybody else in the 275 class. That's the first time that has happened. I was beat by a guy in the 220 weight class on deads and a guy in the 242 class on bench.
I did have more on that dead. I should have went for at least 620 or 630. I had more in my bench to. I just didn't execute. I let the bar come down way to fast and then I tipped a little.

Do you plan to use a suit and/or briefs? You were using a very wide stance RAw to a low box. Not many people could keep their knees out perfect like that. I would either bring in the stance, add a pair of briefs, or raise the box a little. Just my $0.02.

02-13-2007, 08:30 PM
your hang snatches dont look to bad- dont bend at the waist bend with your legs at the begining of each rep, its hard to tell from a front or back view but it looks like the weight is getting away from you a little bit at the top of the pull try and keep it as close to you chest as possible - the only other thing I would say is about the width of your grip, I prefer a wider grip I put my pinkies on the outside rings, but since your so much bigger then me i would almost have my pinkies at the ends of each side, but its also whatever is comfortable for you, I also do close grip snatched from time to time so the grip is pretty much up to you. but they dont look to bad on a little tweaking

Hey C.R.
'bout time you stppoed in. I was training in an Inzer Z-suit a while back but I felt it was actually having a weakening effect even though I was able to use heavier weights. Briefs would be a good addition. I think I'll get a pair.
The box I was using was 12". I can flip it up on the side where it rises to 14". I do get a lot more speed off the 14" side.
I appreciate the advice man. Feel free to comment any time.
