View Full Version : gain muscle through diet not weights?

i have been hampered by injuries that have not allowed me to do much of anything lifting wise yet i have gained 20-25 lbs i am currently shedding this off and if i am correct in guestimates i will achieve same body fat % at 5-10 lbs heavier than in september

i dont mean to say dont lift weights all i ment was that it seems i am going to have more lbm than i did when i got hurt

If you're still developing, muscle-wise, then not training and eating properly you will gain some mass, but thats just natural. However if you're older and fully developed to your genetic level, I dont see how eating properly and not training will increase muscle mass.

Overeating and/or getting somewhat fat increases the level of anabolic hormones in the body.
Of course, dieting and getting lean does the opposite, so I think you will find that the muscle does not stick around quite as well as you lose the last 5-10 lbs of fat.
