Im gonna start a Workout journal since it will be a good track of how much i lift daily so i can always add on to it and to not slack off. I do olmpic and Florida high school weightlifting. People in my other tread aren't helping me too much but as of right now i need to lose 10 pounds in the next 3 weeks and i HAVE to in the next 4.5 weeks. i have 6-7% body fat and I last weighed in at 138.9 poundsi have to weigh 129.0 or less. I have a knee injury right now so im only power snatching and and power cleaning. Cant think of much else to say sooo heres what i did today...

Power clean and Jerk - warm-up, 145x2, 160x1, 170x1, 180x1
PHC (power hang cleans) 125x3, 135x3, 145x3

nothing else b/c i couldn't workout today and wont much tomorrow but i will start up normally friday

(tried 235 3 times, kinda close one the first but i kinda stuck it out in front of me)

jerk press- 95x3, 125x3, 135x3, 145x3, 155x1

BN Press- 70x5, 80x5, 90x5, 100x1 (strange, I've gotten it for 4 before)

Bench- 135x5, 150x5, 165x3, 180x2, 195x1, 215xBURIED (we're supposed to go for a new max but i dont think i could have gotten all my other sets if i raised them any higher)

Good luck on losing that much weight. You'll have to pretty much starve yourself to get down that much in four weeks.

yeah, seeing how low your bodyfat is already your going to need to eat like a bird to cut that extra weight. good luck though. those are some good lifts for your weight.

I guess the only thing I could tell you to do is buy a "fat burner" and take some fish oil, flax oil, a multivitamin, eat very very little and work your ass off.

Here's a plan I used to use when I used to wrestled and needed to lose weight FAST:

You will need to lose 6 pounds up until the night before the meet. At night you should go for an brisk paced run dressed in three layers of sweat pants. You should aim for a 1-2 hour workout of non-stop movement. Go to bed after a small glass of water. You should weigh 2 pounds less by the end of this workout. Take a quick shower and then go to sleep in a couple layer of sweats.

In the morning you should be down 2.5-3 lbs. Before your meet, do not consume ANYTHING. In 3 layers of sweats, jog and chew on lemon drops. The lemon drops will make you salivate.... spit your saliva into a plastic bottle. The last pound will be the hardest to lose. After weigh-in, you will want to drink lots of Gatorade and eat a little bit of solid food. Right before your meet, you need to eat lots of easy to digest and sugary foods to boost your energy back and strength where it should be.

I used to diet down like that for the hell of it. Putting on multiple layers and cycling, running, jogging etc. will definitely make you lose weight, FAST. I used to cycle at 1030 at night and wear 3 pairs of shorts, two shirts a sweatshirt and bring no water and cycle for a couple hours. Come back home and my abs would be a lot more visible and I would shed a couple more pounds.

What a depressing day i guess pulls are like benching, if you do them to close together, then you'll suck the next time you try.

so-so day, nothing suprising, nothing special

Bench: 155x3, 170x3, 185x2, 200x2, 215x0 (i got it about 5" off my chest this time), 180x3, 180x3, 180x3

DB Bench 50x5, 60x5, 70x5, 80x (didnt get to try them i know i would have killed them, but class was over. Man!!! and the 70's were SOOOO easy)

not much as i said i should be full-time minus leg work come next week

not a bad day today. we're back to 5's again so heres how i did

bench: 135x5, 145x5, 150x5, 155x5, 160x5, 160x5

DB bench: 50x5, 60x5, 70x5, 80x2 (would've gotten them Friday, but o well)

power snatch: 95x2, 105x2, 115x2, 125x2, 135x2

close grip bench: 135x5, 145x5, 155x5, 165x3, 175x2 (was aiming for 3 on 175)

pretty decent not too hard or intense

If you werent at such a low bodyfat it would be soo much easier for you too drop weight, but assuming you weigh in the night before or a week before the actual meet you will have no problem reaching that.


Your not going to drop 10 pounds of fat, theres no damn way thats going to happen at your weight and bodyfat. You gonna have to rely on alot of water weight durings weigh ins, although it sounds risky drop all liquids and food during the day your going to weighin (assuming its night) and you should make weight if you weigh naked or come close.

Were alot different and I've never had to give advice to someone in your situation but I know i was weighing like 235 and dropped weight in a day to compete in the 225, I ended up weighing around 217 then was back to 235 the next day.

DB press: 40x8, 45x8, 50x4(force reopped final 4) let me just say force repping those last 4 ruined the rest of my workout. I was supposed to bench and do weighted dips but my shoulders were just too dead.

bench: 135x5, 145x2(couldn't get another i was in too much pain and was too sore)

Jerks: 145x5, 155x5, 155x5, 170x5, my friend for the previous set was supposed to do as much as me but he had a big ego so he did 175x5 and I had to retaliate with 180x5 even though i was supposed to do 170x5

BN Press: 75x5, 85x5 (shoulder started to hurt so I stopped)

Weighted dips: myself for 3. supposed to do 4x8 but my shoulder hurt

Pushdowns: 25x12, 30x12, 35x12, 40x12, 45x7

Abs: Rockies: 1 set of 22, supposed to do 3x25 but i have weak abs and pussed out. Rev. crunches: 1x25, talking and forgot to do another other set.

Today was my best day in a VERY LONG time even though i only felt ok.

DB Bench: 50'sx8, 60'sx8, 70'sx8 - GOT ALL SETS

Power Snatches: 95x3, 105x3, 115x3, 125x3, 135x3 (my previous best triple w/ full squat), 145x2 (my previous best double w/ full squat) - heck yea even though im not squatting im gettin hella stronger. - GOT ALL SETS

Close Grip Bench: 140x5, 150x5, 160x3, 170x3, 185x2 - GOT ALL SETS

Weighted dips: myselfx5, (myself+45)x5, (myself+70)x5, (myself+90)x4 - SOOO CLOSE, that would have been a new max set of 5reps by 10lbs

Pushdowns: 35x10, 40x10, 45x10, 50x10

push up plyo's: 3 sets of 30 - man my tri's were worn after this

ABS: crunches- 2 sets of 40, specials- didnt really do em, table tops- 1:26 didnt really try. If u can tell I HATE ABS

my abs are still sore from friday's rockies. its the only ab workout that makes me sore.

Today was a BAD DAY first off I found out I got a referral for skipping class and I had to tell my coach b/c they find out anyway when anyone on the team gets a referral. And when we get a referral we get EXTRA DUTY. NOT FUN. you'll see what it is at the end of my workout.

EXTRA DUTY!!!: It was a circuit w/ NO BREAKS doing military press on down then back to military press, it was the most tiring thing I've ever done in my entire life. Here it is-

My mouth literally had NO MOISTURE, it was completely dry. I could not move a muscle, I just sat for about 15 min. O ya, n the second thing that made this a bad day besides extra duty was I busted my middle finger w/ a 5lb weight when i was doing lat raises. It looks ugly and bloody.

today was the meet. i ended up weighing 131.0, not bad, next wednesday i'll weigh under 129.0. I benched 200 kinda ok, i should have gone 210 but every1 told me to go 215. I missed it pretty bad. I got 185 power clean n jerk pretty good. The jerk was a joke, i power jerked it. i went 195, should have gone 190, b/c it was a fund raiser not a real competition we got to take 4 attempts instead of the normal 3. I missed 195 horribly, i kind of only DSS'd it. i kind of punked out b/c i didnt want to catch it low n hurt my knee. o ya n i GOT MY REHBANDS IN THE MAIL. SOOOOOO HAPYYYYYYYY. nuthin much else to say... next week is intersquad for varsity where i HAVE to make weight.

thanks, I'll try my best. I wish my state's high school weightlifting program was pure olympic, but its bench n C+J. I got 4th @ School Age this summer past, and I lifted @ last years Nat'l Juniors. I got hurt n couldn't qualify for this years juniors so right now im focused on high school lifting, but come summer I'll be doing everything I can to qualify for Nationals.

guess what, today's president's day. Guess again, today there was no school. Guess one more time, my weightlifting team had practice @ 7:30 in the morning when there was no school. no complaints though...

Bench: 135x3, 155x3, 175x2, 190x1 (my opener for wed. meet)

DB Bench: 50'sx5, 60'sx5, 70'sx5, 80'sx5 YYEEEEEAAAAAAAA finally got dem 80's fo fi playa

Close Grip Bench: 135x5, 140x5, 145x5 (really started to hurt my soulders so i stopped)

POW Snatch: 115x2, 125x1, 130x1, 140x1, 140x1, 150x1 (half squat, almost full), 135x2, 135x2 man my pow snatch has gotten SOOO much better, cant wait till my knee's 100%

Weighted Dips: myselfx5, (myself+45)x5, (myself+70)x5, (myself+90)x2 hmmm... I've gotten it for four b4

Pushdowns: 40x5, 45x5, 50x5, 55x5

Crunches: 70, supposed to be 2x35, but too easy, although last 20 were a killer.

O ya n i weighed 135.2 by wed. need to be under 129.0

Quite a bit to update,

I MADE WEIGHT!!!!!!! I weighed 128.9, i thought i was gonna die. heres how my attempts went:

Bench: 1st: 185 2nd: 195 3rd: 205 - miss
C+J: 1st: 175 2nd: 185 3rd: 200

So i ended up totaling 395, not bad, but not where it needs to be. 200 KILLED my knee, i should have only power cleaned but i was feeling good. o well.

Nice work on those c+j and snatches man... sounds like your meet went well. I'd really like to get into oly lifting myself to help my explosion.

8.8 - DSS is dead scoop shrug, its where you're in the clean position and you start to deadlift. when the bar reaches your power position, you violently; extend onto your toes, shrug your shoulders up and slightly back (deff. not forward), and drive your hips through. AKA - the triple extension w/ a sligh scoop of the wrists to simulate clean. weight usually is about 85% - 90% of max clean, to improve EXPLOSION part of clean not deadlift.

redFury - thanks, i dont know where my snatches have been improving from and if you want to have good explosion do alot of CORRECT dss and hang cleans.

DB Bench: 50'sx5, 60'sx5, 70'sx5, 80'sx5 - felt better than when i got the 80's for the first time, i might go 80's for 2 sets next week

Jerks: 145x5, 145x5, 170x5, 170x5, 185x5 - my sets were just too easy I had to go 185 to feel something

woo hoo now this weekend begins my quest to weigh under 129 AGAIN by wed. for our first meet against another school

DB Bench: 60'sx5, 70'sx5, 80'sx5 wow I'm 3/3 with the 80's after getting them for the first time. each time I do them they feel easier and easier

Weighted Dips: Mex5, Me+45x5 not much b/c its not too much of a serious workout

Pushdowns: 35x8, 40x8

Not much feelin' good, i weighed 133.5, about where I should be. Wednesday is the big day, our first meet against another team - Lake Brantley (joke), Winter Springs (Bigger Joke), and FPC (my competition, another 129 who was smokin me last year, I'd go 215 C+J if I had to for the win)

meet went well overall, we won all three matchups.

I went 5/6 once again here were my attempts:

Bench: 1st: 185 2nd: 195 3rd: 200

C+J: 1st: 185 2nd: 200 3rd: 215 went for the win, only shrugged it, i was really pissed I got second

got a 400 total whoopee (sarcasm)

I was so pissed about Wednesday's meet, I was so focused on the fact that someone beat me I actually did well...

Pow cleans: 135x3, 145x3, 155x3, 165x3, 175x3 New triple, still pissed, not satisfied, he beat me

Pow Hang Cleans: 135x3, 145x3, 155x3, 165x3 New triple, 170x3 New triple, still mad I couldn't clean 215

DSS: 215x5, 215x5, 215x5, 215x5 I'm gonna wear the hell out of that weight until it knows who the F*** I am

RDL: 225x5, 240x5, 255x5 wanted to go 275 but my back was done, pissed or not

Good Mornings: 85x8, 85x8 back=sore

High Pulls: 75x8, 80x8, 85x8

I guess when you're pissed/focused/whatever you go up.

I see that guy again I think 2 more times before state. I refuse to lose again, refuse.

DB Bench: 60'sx5, 70'sx5, 80'sx5, 80'sx5 - wow this has definitely gone up a lot, felt good after doing this

Bent Bar: 135x5, 145x5 - not much b/c this usually gives me elbow problems, felt a little pressure in the elbow so I stopped

Snatch: 115x5, 125x1, 135x1, 145x1, 155x1 practically was a full snatch, hurt my knee a lot, my pull was bad b/c I hadn't done snatch in quite a while

Jerks: Warm up, 170x3, 180x3, 180x3, 205x2, 225x1 missed the second, put it back up and missed it again, was pretty close on the first try

Jerk press: 120x3, 140x3, 150x3 - my shoulders were done after this

BN Press: 75x5, 85x5, 95x5 - REALLY hard, no shoulders left

Close Grip Bench: 145x3, 160x3, 175x2, 190x2 - woohoo felt great new PR double

Pushdowns: 35x8, 40x8, 45x8, 50x8 felt pretty dern good

1 leg push-ups: 2x25 - first set was easy, last 5 of my second set were the hardest 5 ever

Shoulder Blade Push-ups: 2x30 - my coaches put them up there, but to me and everyone else they were a joke, (maybe I'm doing them wrong)

ABS: Toe Touches: 2x25 - nice burn

DB Obliques: 2x35 - really nice burn w/ 40lb DB

We got one of those cold bath things that help speed up muscle recovery, I jumped in for 20min. Let me tell you it was THE COLDEST thing EVER. I instantly lost my breath + was gasping for air, I must have shivered half an hour afterwards. But it did feel great on the muscles.

Well, quite a bit to update. Had a meet on Mon. here's how it went.

Bench: 1st: 190 2nd: 200 3rd: 205

C+J: 1st: 190 2nd: 200 3rd: 205 my back was hurt from 225 on Fri, and it still is, hurts to do anything involved w/ cleans. O ya n my knee still hurts. (though not as bad as b4)

Woo Hoo total went up 5lbs, not bad, now sitting with a 405 as a 129. Don't know how that will hold up in my section for state.

I'm callin out DITTO, y'all @ DUH-land don't want none of the CREEK SON! Like MC said, C'AINT TOUCH THIS!!!! NO MORE CASSEL, NO MORE JOEY RAY, NO MORE MCDANIELS, NO MORE SWEAR-ENGINE. Y'all think y'all got somethin?!?! WHO?, Partin-me, u wanna repeat that? That's what I thought. I done heard JOHNS is DONE too. Y'all ARE FINISHED. FPC is better than y'all. WASSUP SON!??!

Spruce Creek - 58, DUH-land - 35, nuff said

Meet went pretty well, I got smacked by an overweight cheater. This guy had to have weighed 140 at least (reg. season meets are usually on the "honor" system). When he benched, after his pause he would drop the bar 2" into his chest for a bounce and the judge didn't call it (deland judges' IQs = IQ of monkey S***). It's ok though, come 5-star, sectionals, and state, he won't be gettin' away w/ that mess.

Besides all that, he ended up "totaling" 460. "Benched" 245, C+J'ed 215 (recoiled and regressed like a muther on the jerk.

Here's how I fared:

Bench: 1st - 190, 2nd - 200, 3rd - 205 all felt good, I think I'll go 195, 205, 210 at 5-star. I think its because I've slowly been widening my grip. Hmmm...

C+J: 1st - 190, 2nd - 200, 3rd - 205 got lazy w/ 200's jerk and didn't try to really get under it or my head through.

So I ended up w/ a 410. Not bad. My C+J should shoot up as my knee continues to heal (although it hurt like the Dickens after 205). Every single meet this year I've gone 5 for 6 (not complaining, that's really awesome), and have gotten a bigger total. Hopefully this trend will continue through the rest of the season.

WoW. Hands down one of the best days ever in lifting. Too many PR's to count.

Close Grip Bench: 135x5, 150x3, 165x3, 180x2, 195x2 (new PR double)

Weighted Dips: myselfx5, myself+45x5, myself+70x5, myself+90x4 tied PR, wasn't even close to a 5th

Pushdowns: 35x8, 45x8, 55x8 force repped final 5

What a good day, I weighed 136.4, not bad.

Woo Hoo... 5-star conference championships was Thurs. I got second. I found out the best news though, the guy in front of me is a senior!! He'll be gone next year so no worries. Here's how I did:

Bench: 1st:195 2nd:205 3rd:210 got burried, it was horrible.

C+J: 1st:195 2nd:205 3rd:210 easiest thing I've ever done, my knee felt great (comparatively to other meets), the jerk was a joke, I could've went 215

So I went 5 for 6 AGAIN. My total is now 415. Go me.

Weighted Dips: myselfx5 my shoulder (left) hurt, dunno why. For some reason my shoulders have been hurting off and on especially the left.

Pushdowns: 45x5 got lazy, no excuse

Abs: Knee ups: 30, Rockies: 2x11 abs still sore from Monday

Have a meet Friday (sub-sectional qualifiers for state) I weighed a scary 135.7. I need to weigh under 129.0 by Friday.

Are you getting enough rest? I have learned that if I dont get enough sleep my workout suffers! I have to get up at 430am so I will go to bed at 8pm. Tommorow is my Cardio in the morning and deads at lunch. Make sure you are getting enough rest. Are you still dieting?

Today was a pretty horrible day, first I thought I lost my rehbands, but thankfully someone saw them and picked them up for me. Second, I just felt absolutely sh***y, I couldn't do cleans, my shoulder joints and elbows were sore, my knee hurt, It was just bad. Today was "just one of them days". Here's what I did do.

Squats: 145x8, 155x8, 165x3, 175x3, 185x2, 195x2, 205x2, 215x1, 225x1, 235x1 tied my old max after not squatting since December.

DSS: 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 215x3

Rev. Hypers: 3 sets o' 8

Today was a bad day. I hate squatting the way I do now, it's painful and annoying. I don't have the same ROM that I used to. I've definitely put off going to see a doctor for far too long, I need to see one ASAP. I just figured my knee would be like all my other injuries and it would just get better over time. I'm depressed, I hate weightlifting, it's got to be the most unforgiving sport of all time.

Jerks: tried jerks but I was worn after snatching, plus I didn't warm up enough so heavy weight felt heavier. Went up to 215x1 and just dropped it. Wanted 230x2.

Bent Bar Bench: 135x5, 145x5, 155x5, 165x5, 175x2 Racked it, knew I wouldn't get another, didn't want to miss a rep and hurt my elbow.

Jerk Press: 135x3, 145x3, 155x3

BN Press: 80x5, 90x5, 100x1 I suck.

I kind of lazed out for most of my workout. I have a tendency to when I go up a lot on something. Should have done DB Press, DB Bench, Dips, Pushdowns, Close grip, and a bunch of other random things.

They can be described as a very powerful shoulder press into a split, but its more like an explosion of weight from the shoulders that is caught overhead in a half-squat, a full squat, a full split, or a modified half split (ex. Kendrick Farris). I say its not described as a shoulder press because you're not actually "pressing" the weight as much as you are throwing it off the shoulders. I know a lot of people that out military press and DB Press me, but I can still out-jerk them. Not to toot my own horn, "TOOT" "TOOT", I have very excellent form on jerks.

I wouldn't really know, I'm only comparing it to people who I know weigh around that, although the best person I know who weighs around that does 345, 285, 365 raw. Then again, he's a freak of nature.

Went up a lot on Pushdowns. Overall great workout.

Awesome Tandem c+j haha. Great volume in your workout... I'm sure the cleans will come back to you.

Do you try to limit the reps that you do with cleans and snatch? I just had my first workout today and 6 reps really wears me out. The first few are fine and then I hit the wall. Just curious if this is normal with oly lifts or if I'm just out of shape.

redFury - Thanks, I figure it will take maybe another week or two. For OLY lifts at most you should be doing five reps, because at five reps or more they no longer are an anaerobic exercise and become aerobic. You should stay around three or less.

Our gym is open from 7ish to 10ish but I'll be working from 8:30 or 9ish so I'll have to workout quickly, especially because my house, my school, and my job are spread across the tree corners of the area I live (I say area because each are in different cities). The main thing I hate about it is how early it is. I never do well in the morning, but I have to workout sometime.

YAY I'm feeling great again, everything felt solid and clean. I changed my snatch to a dynamic half dive kind of start rather than a static. I think when I was doing a static oscillating start I was psyching myself out, but with a pure dynamic half dive, I don't have the opportunity to.

Don't jump so much on the bench. Damn. Especially when only doing three reps. Why not gradually do it and then change to sets of one? You don't waste as much energy and you get warmed up to the weights a lot better, too.

I usually do, but I heard of people that do well when they take huge jumps. Normally I would have gone 155 then 175 then 190, but for some reason I wanted to see what it felt like, and 185 was already on the bar I wanted to use (10 benches in weightroom, two available, one had 135, the other 185).

Haven't heard much about it. I don't watch television and I don't read the Packer excerpts in the newspaper. All I remember is him wanting to be traded or some crap like that. Doesn't really bother me, though.

sigh... It was an interesting day yesterday. The actual event was the ABSOLUTE WORST event I've ever lifted in. We we're supposed to start lifting at 1:00 but the earlier session lasted until 3:20. So we started lifting at 3:30ish. Then after I snatched there was an hour and a half wait in between Clean and Jerk.

The problem was the meet has always been only a few lifters, maybe 15. We had the usual 2 hour slot to lift so we should have ended at 3:00. But this year we had 20 preregistered lifters and an ADDITIONAL 40 register the day of. It was hell and pure chaos. I was done lifting and left at 7:15 and lifting was STILL going on.

In addition to the 1.5 hour wait in between snatch and C+J, which made me lose all my energy to want to lift weights, I got the runs and had to go S*** throughout my warmups and piss right after my opener.

Well here were my attempts:

Snatch:
74 - awkward
79 - PR though also awkward, felt heavy and caught it out in front of me
81 - PR BABY, STROKED IT, FELT SO GOOOOD.

After snatch I was pumped for C+J...

...until the 1.5 hour wait in which I lost all motivation to lift weights...

C+J:
93 - sucked but I got it.
98 - caught it then fell backward on clean, my coach told me to change something in my mechanics and it screwed me up.
98 - didn't even try to catch it, I tried, again, to change my mechanics because my coach told me to.

Not a good idea to try to change something the day of a competition. I know what he was telling me was right but it's hard to change on the spot. So I ended up with 81 + 93 = 174. Sucky, wanted at least a 100 on C+J.

The entire sports venue was cool though, there was boxing, judo, fencing, tae kwon do, and other stuff.

I go to sleep hopefully by 8:30

Wake up at 1:30

Deliver newspapers hopefully done by 5:30

Wake up again at 7:45

Go to weightlifting getting there at about 8:20 - 8:30

Lift weights until 9:40

Get to work by 10:00, not stopping at home, uniform already in car.

Work until 4:00 rarely 2:00

Go home or do barely anything w/ cousins or friends.

Home by 7ish.

Sleep hopefully by 8:30...

Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

I'm still alive.

School has started again.

I'm working out on a regular schedule.

I've gotten weaker.

I've gotten stronger.

I don't know why.

I'm a bit fatter.

I'm gonna be a state champ if it kills me.

Got some random updated things. Bench sucks, Cleans and Jerks are awesome, snatch sucks, squats are awesome, knee still sucks, belts are awesome.

Current Numbers -
Bench: 215 (I'm hoping, I doubled 205)
Clean: doubled 215
Jerks: doubled 245
Squats: STROKED 255 after heavy sets, almost got 275.
snatch: who knows. maybe 165

woo I'm pretty decent, I think.

basically maxed out on bench and C+J last week.

Bench was kinda weird. Since I hadn't benched in a while I wanted to go for 220. Well I stroked 220, then I got 225 pretty good. I then went 235 and was pertty confident, but I got right at the end of my sticking point. I then went down to 230 and almost locked out but sadly I missed it. I'm 100000% sure if I went straight 230 I would have gotten it. o well

C+J was pretty good, I went 225 and got it then went 230 and got it. Both times I caught the weight really low after pulling it.

So my total now is 455 (460 w/ 230 bench which I know I can do). I need a 515 by April 19th, which is state.

Damn, really? And I thought I had put some space between us with the clean and Jerk 230lbs = 105kg.

My snatch was 81kg though.

I got 105 in training and did 102 in comp. and cleaned 110 :d my jerks suck. You little guys always seem to strrggle getting out of the clean but your jerks are like lightning

Snatch still at 80... well just have to change that on Saturday wont we?
